Auto placement of comment
Hi everyone,
If I want to have a comment that kicks in automatically in every post someone starts "as comment #2" (with my own info in the comment pre-set)
can that be done? how ? and how hard is it to get it to do it?
thanks

Re: Auto placement of comment
Hi
It could be done and has been done. There's even a tutorial for it here; however, since the update of the new editor, no one has made an update for it yet.
I am creating my own version of it but hopefully someone can coin it up faster than I can!
Regards,
Pizza Boi

Re: Auto placement of comment
Hi
Hmm... that's a problem. You see, the code I'm developing needs an independent table from the rest ^^" and that requires template editing which phpBB3 or Invision don't have.
So basically speaking, it would only work for either punBB and phpBB2 once I'm finish with it, I'm sorry.

Re: Auto placement of comment
Hi
Well, I'm 95% sure it's not possible because I have never seen it in Invision or phpBB3 before

You would need to create an intricate bot with an account(which is always signed in) that crawls your forums. I wouldn't even know where to begin on that.
Now there is actually a way to do this without the use of an account. You would need to place an element after the first post with the information you want. Would you rather that instead ?

Hi
Hmm, I believe he wants it to respond automatically on any area. I've seen it once in Duel Academy (phpBB2 now punBB) until the one who coded it removed. It still worked with the new editor actually but I believe it requires a template edit.
Also, there is one in Xenon Duel Academy (phpBB3). They use a program of some sort and I believe that program requires payment for usage.
You can consult either of the 2 sites for it to be honest.
Edit: I said 95% only because I believe that the OP would deter from payment as much as possible; however, the one in XDA, I believe requires the one who uses it to be online as well. The one that DA had always worked no matter who or who isn't online as long as someone posts.
Another Edit: I found this: http://fm.domdevelops.com/scripts/auto-post.html but I believe due to a DOM problem, that does not work. Can that be re-written and get an external server elsewhere?
