Troublesome user.
Hi, I'm not sure if this is in the right place, and I apologize if it isn't.
Recently, I've been having a problem on a forum I help manage (I am not the Founder; simply an administrator) in which a user often comes from time to time to mess around and irritates others. We also have a policy in which we don't allow users to make multiple accounts, yet he does.
The problem here is that I cannot IP ban him, since he has a dynamic router where he can always change his IP and bypass the ban. Banning/deleting his profile won't help since he can always make a new one and get around the account creating limit.
I'm just wondering if there is any way that I can keep him off the forum without taking any drastic measures. He is not maliciously attacking or harassing individuals, or threatening the forum; however, he is not wanted by several of the members, including myself for often disrupting threads and causing problems in the chatbox. Yes, I have spoken to him about it, but he clearly doesn't care about what I have to say and freely does as he wishes. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Troublesome user.
Hello,
There really isn't much you can do except to just continue banning his accounts and emails. Eventually they will give up.

Re: Troublesome user.
Thanks for your replies, and I had a feeling it was going to be something like this.
Just a quick question. Is it possible to somehow IP ban a general area? I can retrieve some of his IPs from past posts if it's possible.
Appreciate any responses.

Hello,
You can only ban IP addresses and e-mails.
You could ban certain Addresses.

Re: Troublesome user.
You can choose to ban a range of IP addresses by using wildcards ( * ) in the admin panel at:
1. Administration Panel (advanced mode)
2. Users & Groups Tab
3. Ban Control (on the left, under Users)
The problem with this is that you may ban innocent members who have similar IP addresses. The choice is up to you.

Re: Troublesome user.
Also try not to interact with the user by replying to private messages, emails, posts, etc. Just ban his accounts.

Re: Troublesome user.
Thanks for all your help.
I talked to him one last time and it seemed to do the trick. If the problem arises again, I suppose I'll just have to be on top of banning his accounts. I'd rather not have the other members caught in the crossfire.
Once again, appreciate the help!

You're welcome. Is this problem solved, then?
