In progress #1025 New members can register even if admin validation is needed

Post by Ghost Pirate on June 5th 2014, 3:32 pm

First topic message reminder :

I have new members now saying they can't Register e-mailing me I can't get on not working help.
I also have not been getting the Activation e-mail like I use to get on the new members for over 4 months.
I also have to manually activate the new members now, also for over 4 months the one before now, now they just can't Register at all.
I did not like checking for new members all the time by going on the Inactive Users on the administration panel.

How many new members I may have lost that can't Register. It is also happening on other forums I am a Moderator on.
Here are my setting on my forum

Hello Buttercup the problem he is having is he is not getting A Email to as you have made an account from our servers As it is set to Admin to get an Email when a new member make a new account. This has been a problem for some time now.

so when you made your account he did not get the Email to say BUTTERCUP has made an Account on Fish Crazy Aquatics forum. to activate your account i had to tell him when i see your post here that there was a new account.

He can now get new members now i have gave him steps to sort that problem out but he is still not getting any Emails to say he has new members when set to admin's

Ape.

I will add this is also the same problem on my forum so i had to set my forum to all users can log in right away or i would not get a Email to say there is a new member.

Hello

We manage to re-create the problem only when the admin use Outlook365.
By consequence, we need the email provider you are using as admin and as member.

Thanks  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:

Can i ask why The hotmail and live accounts are still a problem as well or is it mixed in with  Outlook 365 this was not a problem before i always got my Emails about 3 months a go.

It's strange that even though we have added FM's Host Email address to our safe list there is still a problem.

so if this is a problem with Hotmail and live and also AOL what are we meant to use ?  blackeye

EDIT:
also Fish crazy has just activated my Fatfish account on he's forum and it did not send me an Email to say the account has been  activated This is on a @live.co.uk account  Evil or Very Mad

Outlook365 is provided by Microsoft.  I believe it usually goes by just Outlook.

Thanks for that but then FM really need to fix there problem and get help from outlook to get this fixed as FM's mail is not getting to everyone when news letters are sent or if you get a new member and the system Don't send the mail out to the founders.

Looking at that link you sent this means that None of The list i gave all but Gmail will work.
FM will loose lots of members if they can't use any old Email address they have always used.

Lets hope this will be fixed really soon as it is the main thing that needs to be fixed. To me when some thing like this is going on we need that fixed before any other updates or we will loose new forum's getting made and new members to FM.

But thank you for the new info Buttercup  :rose:

Hello APE

I perfectly understand but we won't stop other updates for every new bug and problem. Otherwise, we won't be able to improve our service. Some technicians work on updates and other on bugs. So, both of them are very important for us.

Thanks for your understanding

Butter

Hi buttercup I think your find that the problem is still here. we had a new member today on Fish crazy's forum and still did not get a Email to notify us of a new member had made the account and they was waiting for the admin to activate there account by the admin. I will run a test to make sure but right now i still think this is a problems.

will edit my post if i get this to work.

That is a different issue. #1025 bug was "members were activated without the admin clicks on the confirmation link"

No this is the same problem the problem is that when some one makes an account on our forum We are not getting a Email to say that that member has made a new account that is what this thread was made for in the first place. The member has 2 Email addresses
1 founders Email address (AOL.com)
2 New Founders Email address (Hotmail.com)
None of them was sent a Email to say that i had made a test account in the name of test account but the account was in the ACP sitting waiting for the admin to ok the account. but he did not get a Email to say there was a new member so he had to look him self every day.

The problem now is if we get new members and there on the inactive list for to long then there not going to come back.

we really need this sorted out once and for all.

also the news letters are not getting sent out all the time this may or may not be the same problem on FM's side i Don't know.

Could you ask to the founder to change for awhile the foundation email (aol) for an other (example: gmail)?

Just to see if the problem comes from it.
Thanks
