member with sign in and spam issues
Hi, I have an elderly member on my forum who has had a lot of issues, I have had her clear her history, cookies etc. I opened her a new acct which seemed to stop all the problems and she was able to log in and use the forum etc. Now she is back where she was before, this has been an ongoing issue this year, I dont know what else to do to help her. i have copied her post to me below, can anyone help please? Also some of my members report that they select the 'keep me logged in' option when they sign in yet at the start of every month, they have to sign in again, what would be causing that? Thanks in advance.
Early this morning I signed in 6 times and each time got weird pages, one was even porn, another was ads for stuff and another one wanted to get me to sign up for malware which would check my computer for viruses etc. I have Norton so don't need this. But this has been going on for over 2 weeks but last night got the porn site and today same thing. I am on 2 emails, facebook and another forum and no problems. Really nervous because before got bunch of stuff downloaded onto my computer and hubby went through and deleted them all. Checked this time and nothing but really do not want to get problems. Before after hubby deleted stuff went to Staples and they checked it out and OK. But lately when do a scan with Norton they find more tracking cookies than ever had before. They get rid of them but lately been doing a scan every two days. When you log on there is a spot to Report Abuse so I did that so maybe they can solve the problem but if suddenly I do not log in anymore either for one of two reasons 1. Got tired of logging in over 5 times and gave up or 2. Getting too many ads, porn and other junk popping up when I try to log on. It happens after I log on my name and when I press to type my password

Re: member with sign in and spam issues
Hi,
So when this member logs in she is redirected to spam stuff such as porn, downloads etc?
It doesn't actually log her in?

Re: member with sign in and spam issues
No, apparently it doesnt log her in, she said she tries 5 or more times and gets redirected to the spam/porn (she is 72 so upsettiing for her) Yesterday she was able to log in first try but later in the day she had the same issue and was getting all manner of stuff but unable to log in. Im guessing its something to do with her end of things but Im not sure, the fact that I set her up a new membership in May and it was fine for a while and is now doing the same thing as her original membership makes me think its her computer but I dont know how to help or if it is to do with the forum itself

Re: member with sign in and spam issues
Ask her to clear her browser's cache.
When she is redirected, does she see a message in the right top corner that says, "Skip ad in 5 seconds.?'

Ask her if she could give you the links to these ads? Do not post the links in this topic, but in a private message.

Re: member with sign in and spam issues
Hello
SLGray transferred me your message.
First, I need the username of the member.
Could you confirm you are talking about this forum: Forum?
I have checked your forum and I don't anything wrong. I don't get any porn ads or anything else. Moreover, as it is the only member complaining about this problem I am quiet sure the problem comes from her computer and not from other service.
Thanks for sending me the neccessary information
Regards
