Pop Up with an article

I want to add a pop up that will be fixed as a position and i want it to have the first topic of a certain category.
i want it to be position fixed and be here:

Something like the recent topic system of specific category that Ange made but as a fixed box. Can this be happened?

Hi Marios,
Create a new widget with ange's code like this which you are using for recent topics on specific forum then check "No" in field "Use a table type :"  and set the javascript to read just one topic. Then create the css for the box to place it where you wish. For the popup you will need to add a timer and the function show/fade in javascript.

I'm not entirely sure of how to do this but I think the mod_news template might give you an idea cause it's functionality is quite similar to what you're looking for.

As for the X button to close, just use jQuery to add a class that has display:none to the box.

The problem is not the X. The problem is:
I want a popup box with the article in it. The article will include the image, the title and 70 characters of the post.
But i don't know anything about javascript..

Here's what I've tried:
- copied codes from mod_news template into a new forum widget, didn't work and shows only variables
- copied same codes to homepage message, didn't work either, shows only variables

I'm afraid I have no idea on how to solve this for now.

I managed to grab the information of the mod_news and paste them in a box. The problem is that i cannot make it to grab the image of the topic
