What Have You Learnt To Improve Your Forums? Empty What Have You Learnt To Improve Your Forums?

The title says it all. What have you guys tried to learn or have learnt in order to improve your forums? It could be CSS, HTML, Javscript, SEO or a particular subject your forum is focused on.

Shared it here!

For me, I have done quite a bit of SEO (search engine optimization) and CSS. Before I start my forum, I know totally nothing of those two... and I think I'm mastering them both now.

well all of it as it goes.

I used to run other forums before FM ... I grabbed a bit of mySQL ,a bit of PHP... but I never really liked those languages ... still don't

for FM ... well i advanced in CSS ... improved on html and recently added javascript to my escapade.
I have to say that those 3 tools are vital ... almost imperative to demolish the limits of forumotion.

but even knowing all the web languages doesn't compare to thinking out the box. thats the biggest thing I learned.

I have learned a bit of HTML thanks to Forumotion, but I'm still a beginner. Hopefully I will master it soon.

I haven't learned any codes. Sad
I have learned to go through the admin panel and customize without codes though.

I learnt HTML, started the basics of CSS to the first level of w3s , did computer graphics.

Learnt how to affiliate to get more traffic, how to save money.. how to handle cases...

Through forums, (your own), you understand how to lead a group of people (your assistants : mods, admin , techies) and i learnt what people want to see..I am still learning news ways and searching new ways to attract people ext ext.

I have learned one thing : never go with free forum providers. BEFORE some weird people start understand it wrong, Forumotion is great service, among the best, if not the best among free forum providers... Its just that paid solutions are soooo much better in many ways.

It's normal, you have access to all you need to modify it... It's not comparable..

I have to add template editing to what I've learned.

It's not exactly all HTML ... its this mutant breed of .. eh .. variables defined from a set array of script that is hidden somewhere in the servers of forumotion.

The possibilities are almost endless, but creating the code is not as simple as designing a web site.

I'm still learning a TON on the scripting side, but from a membership input side, I've learned that to listen to them, and to allow for a kind of "Membership Governance" is a real important part of my site at least.
