Option to disable mobile view mode. (Mobile Site)

Post by adukes_007 on September 24th 2014, 6:16 am

Most phones can easily show the full site.  The site defaults to the mobile site with phones.  Wish we could disable it.

The arrows at the top right. Click it then press "Classic Mode"

Voted 'No'. Either leave ppl the already existing option top right: "Classic Mode" or enforce classic mode by script.

@Van-Helsing : If you checked my website before, you wouldn't have needed to ask Wink My board version is phpBB3 and the script is running fine. I'm sorry, but http://prntscr.com/ahfloy

Just decided to check and the script is good and all but I still saw the mobile version for a few seconds. It causes confusion seeing two different types when visiting and in a new guest persoective, I wouldn't exactly know what the first thing Was unless I had experienced Forumotion forums before. Also, there is a link in the footer for Mobile Version, if I click it, it shows mobile version again hit redirects.

If you want to disable mobile version, why wouldn't you want to remove it from the footer? Causes even less confusion. This suggestion if accepted and implemented would not only make the option more efficient and easier, if it removed it from footer and didnt redirect ag start it would be much better.

The mobile version shows for a second alright, but it has always done that. It's too fast to do anything as a normal user and it shows only once as it needs time to write the cookie. Next time you check my website it doesn't show no more, because it uses the cookie to force and set classic mode.

Yeah, well for the link at the footer, I'm lazy. I didn't style my website for mobile devices except for chat (AWC and here's mine: http://prntscr.com/ahfwhj ). I could have hidden the link with some good CSS I guess, but then again: who cares? It's a very minor 'issue' so to speak.

I like the way it is now. It has been like this for almost 2 yrs now. The mobile version only causes confusion and headaches people asking why it's even there. They're used to regular websites, not funny workarounds to make it more readable. That's what I heard as actual feedback.

@RoXaNNeX, I am not asking support on this section but the javascripts are useless for punbb because are not working, for this reason we made this suggestion.

Not to derail the thread, but a JavaScript that modifies the mobile version should work on any version. I'm assuming a PunBB specific script you're using is throwing an error on the mobile version rendering the aforementioned scripts useless. It would probably be best to open a support topic in that respect so we can get down to the actual cause and reach a solution.

I'm sure you haven't, @Van-Helsing . All I was saying is, if you need my script you can have it and perhaps have it changed by someone to fit your needs. Just not in this section. I'm kinda keen on my friend's warning bar Wink

That's what I was thinking. Just open a ticket so I can post my one-liner. You can try it out then and if it works for other versions, it works, if it doesn't, support can be given in that ticket.

(PS: please make it soon as I'm off to hit the hay Smile )
