Post by jooda October 2nd 2014, 8:34 pm

Its been over 2 years..

"My site got taken down

http://www.onlineguardian.net/results.php?verify=falconreachknights.forummotions.com

It was becasue I had an iframe to another sites game they had made. Then that site decided to change it to a gaming private server so my forum got taken down even though it was an iframe and i wasnt aware that the game had changed as I was on holiday

Ive contested but got no reply"

I have tried so so hard to explain, I made some amazing friends on my forum, and you can check all the posts, my forum never breached ToS. Please believe me, I have been trying for over 2 years to bring my old community back, but I cant without my old forum Sad

Hello jooda,
If the Online Guardian has banned your site and you have been trying for 2 years now to get it back then odds are it won't work in your favor. Because you can contest it but if they do not believe it or still hold the ban on your site, then they probably don't plan on removing it. But also, the Online Guardian only blocks Forumotion forums that break the Forumotion TOS so your site had to have broken the TOS here at Forumotion to get it banned. But even before it is banned, you are given a red warning inside of your ACP warning you that you are breaking the TOS of Forumotion and you are given a time limit to fix the issues or your site would be banned.

You can wait and see if the staff can help but you should have come to get help when you first noticed your site was banned. They might have been able to help you if you had informed them sooner.

Hope this helps provide a bit more information in regards to your issue.

Jadster:  If the violation is severe, you do not get a warning.  Warnings are usually for minor violations.

Minor Violations:  one copyrighted image, a couple downloads, etc.

Major Violations:  the whole forum is breaking copyrighted laws, the forum contains pornography, etc.

@SLGray: Thank you for the information. I was under the impression that the forum always got a warning about it but I figured the time limit given to fix the issue depended on the severity of the violation. Thank you for that bit of clarification!

Hello Jooda,
Even if you didn't have pornography or explicit content on your site, this doesn't mean there wasn't any other serious violations with your site. Such as what SLGray posted, breaking Copyright Laws also is a very serious matter. So if you have anything on your site that was not your property and was copyrighted by another website or company, they hold the right to report your website. You mantioned above in your post...

Jooda wrote:It was becasue I had an iframe to another sites game they had

If you did add a game to your site that was made by another website, it could very well be that they had that copyrighted and did not give you the permission to use it on your site as it was not yours to use. So they could have reported your site because of this which could have led to your site being shut down & banned.

Links, images, iframes, downloads, etc. to copyrighted material will get your forum in trouble.

there was no inframe to copyrighted material, it was actualyl an inframe to a game which another game studio thought infringed their copyright but instead they were proving wrong. It took 8 months to prove it.

Yes I have contested it several times in the 2 years. But I never get anything back..

Is there anyway I can actually contact someone and speak to them about the issue? Because every forum which I know was banned on forumotions and they contested nothing ever happened back...

I want to actually speak to someone about it, and email would be good?

Hello Again Jooda,
I can understand how you feel about losing your site and not hearing anything back. I do not believe there is an email you can contact but your best bet would be to contact Buttercup the Pro-Administrator. She would be the most likely person to be able to help you in your situation as she has more connections with ForuMotion forums and controls much more then any of the other staff other then the Founder & Owner The Godfather. Try sending a PM her way and explain your issue and see what she says. However, as the Pro-Administrator she is very busy so she may not reply instantly so give it some time. If you do not hear back after a few days, try contacting a Manager to have them talk to her when they aren't busy. This way you don't send too many PM's to her and flood her PM box.

Hope this will help lead you to solving your issue and I hope it gets resolved soon!

OnlineGuradian is not just for Forumotion.  They are for most forum hosting providers.

Hello,

If your forum has been banned by OnlineGuardian then the only thing you can do is contest the decision. However, this does not mean that you will definitely get your forum back. If you have not received a response then please assume that your contest was unsuccessful. Unfortunately, there is not much else we can do to help. Please do not continue PMing the admins.

I was recommened to PM admins, as Online Guardian wont respond, and I was given no warning prior to my forum being banned, and I still dont know why to this day it was banned.

Is there a phone number I can ring?

If your forum has been banned, it is probably because it did fit with out ToS.
