Post by betclever October 21st 2014, 9:53 am

Dear all,

I have my own domain bought via forumotion but apparently, my website is hosted on godaddy.com but I want to use a BDD to install an ajax tchat system cause apparently, there is no solution to install this kind of module on forumotion.

What shall I do to link my database with forumotion cause I want to install the livechat system on this extern BDD.

The My SQL port is : 3306

create your chat system in a html page on godaddy

then on forumotion you can display it inside of a frame .. probably about best you will be able to do

you would have to host the chat on another site because forumotion does not support it atleast not yet anyways

When you write "another site", you mean that I have to take another domain name and host the tchat system on this one?

I have atm www.betclever.net so if what I say is just, how can I add www.betclever.net/tchat by exemple?

Did you see what I want on my website?

Just before the footer, you will find the shoutbox system I'm using at the moment.
This is what I want.

So you mean buy another domain name to install the module "ajax tchat" on it by exemple : www.betclevertchat.net ?

I have a question about it:

How can I transform this module to an iframe code to put it this one on the indexbody template like the system I have right now?

Thanks,

ok how can i put this ... the only way you can add a chat system besides the one thats built into forumotion

is to use chat widgets

you can search google for chat widgets and find one you like

acp>display>homepage>generalities

and add it to your homepage message content

Thanks but the only widget chat I have found is i-tchat but it's a vertical widget and I don't have the place to put it on the home page like the one I'm using now (shoutbox).

So, no possibility to transform an ajax-tchat to iframe like the shoutbox I'm using right now?

Did you visit the website I gave cause I have downloaded the sources and can install the sources on another My sql data base but how to get the iframe code to put this one on the indexbody so the shoutbox appaers on the footer?

Thanks and sorry to insist but I'm looking for a quick alternative... :s

ok TYVM for your help Smile

Can we make a test with a virtual my SQL data base without buying something?
Shall I take a large bandwitch for this kind of service like 100mo,250,500 or bigger?

Please find the link with what I want so you have an idea: https://github.com/Frug/AJAX-Chat

Thanks,

You need to search for a chatbox/shoutbox that is free and gives the codes for use on a forum, not one that you have to download the codes.

We do not have access to the Forumotion's (your forum's) database.
