It should appear when you start a new topic or edit an old one.  It should be either above or below the editor.  I believe on phpBB 2 forums there is a drop-down menu that has those option under the text editor.

Also when you press the moderate this forum link, there should be buttons for them.

Solved Re: sticky and announcement

Post by Guest November 20th 2014, 8:10 pm

MadmanMac2001,
To make a topic stickied, announcement, or global. There is a dropdown menu at the bottom of the page giving you the option to do one of those 3. If that does not work, click into the forum, scroll down and click "Moderate this board" and then check the thread you wish to moderate and then change the setting of that thread to either sticky or announcement or global.

If you cannot do any of these, then be sure you can do these in your permissions.

Hope this helps!

Right, Thankyou Guys,

Writing a Post as Admin, as Moderator and as Group with set permissions.....

I see the Options tab and below that Add a Poll Tab, both of which don't open up at all.

The only thing I can do is lock the whole topic from either admin panel or moderator tools, which really isn't what I need to do.  The permissions are all set to allow both Sticky posts and Announcements.

If it helps I am running a theme, phpBB2 (subsilver), I cant see how it would make a difference, but perhaps it does.

To SLGray,  The Quick Mod Tools drop window is available.  Delete, Move, Lock, Split and Merge.

Again, Thankyou in Advance

Solved Re: sticky and announcement

Post by MadmanMac2001 November 22nd 2014, 4:30 pm

OK, Iv tried with Firefox, IE, SeaMonkey and of course Chrome, all with the same result. My Java is fully up to date. The tab is there for both Options and Add a Poll but they both do not open on all current permission levels, Guest (I know, not spose to anyhow;) ) Registered Members, Admin, and the 3 others I have set up extra. This is not my first foray into forum setup up and my previous incarnations worked just fine.

Right now Iv only got a few of peeps registered and early stages of setup, would it be perhaps easier just to completely reset and see if the problem persists ?

Failing that I can drop the forum addie n you have a look yourself, registration needed but I set a test forum in the registered area with Full permissions available to a registered member.

Bashing me head against a brick wall here, lol

Thankyou in advance;)

It could be an issue with the design of the theme you are using.  Could you post some screenshots?

OK, @ _Twisted_Mods_ Just register m8, theres for now no auth jobbies in place and once you have registered you'll be able to post new topic in the Registered Members Test Area I set up. All permissions are set to allow registered members to post new as either Sticky or Announcement.

If however Your asking for admin permissions, I'm sorry, but with regret I have to decline. I very much appreciate the offer n all though Wink

@SLGray, I certainly can post screen shots, though which ones, the tabs are there as they should be. They are simply not opening as they should.

phpBB2 (subsilver)

Thats the generic theme I am using. As far as I see a screen shot will not help you at all.

However, as you asked I will supply Wink

sticky and announcement 2u47ucl

As you can see, Tabs are there, but they are ineffective ;(

Thankyou in advance Wink

There should be a clickable + sign on the right side of those two bars.

Go to ACP -> Display -> Pics Management -> Advanced Mode -> Mini-icons -> Scroll down to the place where you choose the + image, third row up from the bottom.

Do you have have an image set up there? For example: https://2img.net/i/fa/tabs_more.gif

@SLGray "There should be a clickable + sign on the right side of those two bars."

Well, if that was the case m8, we never woulda met and this conversation would not be happening Wink

I KNOW what should be. Im here asking why it isnt Wink

@ Fiece Star Bottom 8 in mini icons are empty, though i dont see any connection with any of those mini icons to Sticky, announcement posts ?

All bottom 8 set as empty.gif

In that case, replace the empty.gif link for the "+ :" field to https://2img.net/i/fa/tabs_more.gif . Then the icon should appear next to the "Options" and "Add a poll" fields. Click those then the drop down list should appear below them.
