advertisement categories

Post by _Twisted_Mods_ on November 26th 2014, 5:03 pm

i dont know if this is possible todo to it would help both users of forumotion and forumotion itself

i know i have been to numerous forums and seen out of place advertisement by out of place i mean they don't match well with what the site is about

example
if i goto a forum about cars it should show only car based advertisement
not gaming, house cleaners and so on...

so my suggestion is to add categories in the acp so we can choose the type of advertisements that best fit our forum

how this helps the users: we don't have to deal with ugly advertisements that have nothing to do with our forum

how this helps forumotion: your advertisements goto the right user database to get more clicks and produce more revenue

Advertisements are based on your data and cookies. For example, my parents often shop online, so it displays items for sale in the ads.

I voted YES. After each session my browser's cookies are cleared. And I wouldn't like to see lingerie ads on my gaming forum. Razz

I'm not sure if FM can do anything on that, that depends on you. Razz

I'm pretty sure you should stick to what you're good at, Ramdaman, helping people on FM. So, vote YES if you don't like it! Razz

Google ads are based on your activity and what is on your forum.  So if you do a lot of searches for games, most ads on your forum will be for games.  Everyone does not see the same ads.

That's only true for the session. After I close my browser, the cookies are gone. I think what _Twisted_Mods_  is trying to say is to have certain ad categories determined and fixed to the websites' category by the admin from within the ACP, right?

I really do not have to worry about ads, because of my browser.  The extensions and plugins I use block most ads.  Most people use adblockers.
