What's Better for A Forum, Dark or Light Theme?
What's Better for A Forum, Dark or Light Theme?
Hi,
The title says it all, what's better? Well, if you're going to answer that it depends on your opinion, please don't answer that, okay? What my point here, really, is to ask forumotion members what theme is better for forums.
Let's see, if a forum is where you can speak your mind and read/write your opinions, it's a gotta be a light theme right? So that it won't be hard to read.
But if you like more design, and a bit modern, you'll choose a dark theme.
So it's your pick, what's better? Dark or Light Theme?

Both, they both look good. It just depends on how the user does all the other main stuff.

Neither and Both shouldn't even be a option to select(imo). You're asking which is better..
I prefer Dark sites myself for the purpose in which i use my site(s)(gaming clan). Lets face it , gaming sites in light or white, just doesn't look as good..(imo)
lighter colors displays nicer and is much easier to view. They tend to run smoother too.
I picked (voted) light based solely on the question, "which is better";although it's not my personal preference.

It depends on what forum do you want to create.
If you are going to administrate and moderate a gaming forum, a dark theme matches it perfectly, but if you're going to administrate and moderate a forum for disscussions, computers, etc. a light theme matches it perfectly.

Re: What's Better for A Forum, Dark or Light Theme?
I run a metal forum, and for me a dark theme is very cliché - if you will - and so I prefer to use a light theme.
Re: What's Better for A Forum, Dark or Light Theme?
I also like both. But if everything on the webpage is dark and the texts are in light color, I get tired of reading. So for my forums I use a dark background and the zones for reading/writing are light

If you run a gaming community then a dark skin is perfect.
But i prefer light themes.

Re: What's Better for A Forum, Dark or Light Theme?
For me, i prefer a darker theme as light themes tend to hurt a lot of peoples eyes after a while, which is why my forum theme is bascially blacks and grey.

Depends, but people have told me they didn't like the dark theme I used on my forum, so I had to change it.

Re: What's Better for A Forum, Dark or Light Theme?
It depends on the forum and the people's opinions. I personally like dark but most people like light. But for a sunny forum like Forumotion I hate dark :3
Re: What's Better for A Forum, Dark or Light Theme?
I like both light themes and dark themes. Dark is sometimes easier on the eyes, but it would look horrible on a 'fun forum'.
Re: What's Better for A Forum, Dark or Light Theme?
Definetely dark cause usually light themes just reaps my eyes out.

Re: What's Better for A Forum, Dark or Light Theme?
I would say it all depends on what kind of forum it is.
Like say you have a forum with a lot of youtube videos, flash games or something with a lot of pictures like art work etc... Then i would say black background and darker themes are better because it makes the media content stand out better.
To where is you have a forum that is more discussion related, with a lot of long paragraph, stories or other literature, then i would say a light background and theme would be better because it is easier on the eyes for reading,
like take Google pages, MSN, Yahoo Facebook they all have white backgrounds to better help ease strain on ones eyes.
But what it comes down to is what you like the best, there are still many sites with a lot of reading content and have dark backgrounds. So just depends what you like best
I chose both?
