Solved Mood drop-down menu in the topics and posts.

Post by Guest on January 15th 2015, 11:54 am

First topic message reminder :

I've got a request / question. I'd like to have a drop-down menu so users can express their current mood instantly from the posts and topics they are in. Example placement: http://prntscr.com/5sozc7 . The menu should easily be expandable with moods and smilies (both) and translatable (ofc this would be in a script that much I figure). There should also be an empty mood line (no mood) and when a mood is selected it needs to update the mood in that field throughout the forum, not just in that post or topic. Could someone please create me a phpBB3 (or universal) code for that?

Thanks in advance! Smile

Samantha.

@_Twisted_Mods_ wrote:lol i meant check it out on my forum .. i haven't made it to ur forum yet im trying to make sure everything is good b4 i do that
@_Twisted_Mods_ : Sweet.... You got me there! lol! It's superb, exept, nobody will know they got to refresh the page after they're done changing the mood. Is it possible to built it in? I've got a suggestion for you on "another site" if you don't know about updating things without page refreshes Wink

One other thing. If you write the tutorial, people install the code and remove it afterward, will it remove the moods in each and every post for everyone as well? Just thinking....

Here it is.. sorry for the delay, couldn't access it quickly: http://www.avacweb.com/t2183-quick-reply-without-page-refresh?highlight=delete+no+refresh#21017

EDIT: back for 5 mins. I requested an "empty" mood as wel (sort of like when no mood is selected). Shouldn't be too hard to add that one at the top of the list, should it? And some of the emoticon codes still miss colums ":" in their code. TY!

@_Twisted_Mods_ & @Ange Tuteur : I see... I just tested it and it ain't working, that's why I came here and saw your post. I figured you were still working on it. Well, let's not get hasty now tho nearly done. You're doing a heck of a job, dude. So, if you need feedback from Ange, that's OK. If he needs an account, pls. lemme know. I'll be around most of the time today. Thanks for your effort so far! Hello

And thanks also for the credits in your coding! Wink Looking at them now on http://liquidcode.forumotion.com/t9-topic-profile-mood#21

@_Twisted_Mods_ : scratch But I'll lose the reputation bar then won't I? That script was made by Ange Tuteur I believe.... Hmmm.... Now what?

EDIT: @_Twisted_Mods_ : I can do the reputations manually I think by adding a profile field and use the images found in the script and add them to the profiles when needed, right? I think that's the solution to it, so then we can disable the script, right?

Very well done! Awesome!

It's neat and it's fast. I still need to enter the Dutch codes and have the smileys added to the drop-down menu, because they seem to be missing somehow. Other than that, the engine seems to be working now! Great!

EDIT @_Twisted_Mods_ : They smileys in the drop-down list seem to be missing for regular members. As an admin I'm able to see them:
Normal member: http://prntscr.com/5uq302 vs. admin: http://prntscr.com/5uq3ca
I can see this as well with regular members and admins now and only as such regular member: http://prntscr.com/5uq5ov Does that have anything to do with your change or is it related to script integration maybe?

probably has to do with the scripts being together but make no sense y regular members is different from admins at all theirs nothing in either of the scripts thats made just for admins or mods or anything so im guessing it must be another script

@_Twisted_Mods_ : OK, I'll leave you to it. You're the expert. I'll be out for less than an hour doing some groceries. You can set yourself up a user account if needed to do some testing. Back soon! Hello

OK, fine with me. Please notify Ange on this one, will you? If he needs an admin account he should PM me. Thanks! :rose:

EDIT: OK, I did a little bit further investigation and this part, @_Twisted_Mods_ & @Ange Tuteur, "They smileys in the drop-down list seem to be missing for regular members. As an admin I'm able to see them:
Normal member: http://prntscr.com/5uq302 vs. admin: http://prntscr.com/5uq3ca" still stands. Another example can be found in this post: http://fcnl.actieforum.com/t52-new-from-the-usa . Take a close look at the mood differences between regular members "Brandon_G", "Dennis" and my admin "Roxanne".....

I found out this part in my prior post "I can see this as well with regular members and admins now and only as such regular member: http://prntscr.com/5uq5ov Does that have anything to do with your change or is it related to script integration maybe?" is related to IE only!

Furthermore, I edited the new JS and new 'Mood' (Dutch: Stemming) profile to fit my board's language, so that part's good now.

@_Twisted_Mods_ : I see now. So it's IE doing that not showing the smilies in the list, even though I've got the latest version running (11) on Windows 7. And Brandon filled out the Mood field by hand in his own profile. I understand now. Because it works beautifully in FireFox and Chrome.

OK, I think I'll settle with this. It looks AWESOME! Very good

Incredible , mate! Sublime and brilliant! Thanks a bunch to you and @Ange Tuteur for the outstanding job, effort, extensive testing and support!! ~1~

If you need the Dutch version, you can copy it off of my website, Twisted Wink . Please, if approved by other staff members(?), do publish your work as a tutorial soon for all them phpBB2, phpBB3, punBB and Invision users to enjoy. If you need screenshots for the tut, you may use my website for that if you like. Smile

I hope you liked the challenge. Topic solved, and please do archive it.
