A literally insane stalker terrorizing forum

This is going to sound odd, but there is a literally insane guy obsessed with my forum. He uses a proxy service so I can't ban by IP. I have had registrations closed or in admin activation for most of the past couple months. I hate to leave it where no new users can ever sign up again, but I am unable to stop this guy. Is there anything that can be done?

I think his real name is Dan Gregory, although he goes by many aliases.

I have seen other banned accounts of his on other forums that have at least some similarity to mine. He gets banned for the increasingly crazy advice he gives people.

After IP banning (or even range IP banning for his whole provider spectrum of IP addresses he can take), I'm afraid there is not much you can do. Admin verification for new members is useless since you cannot see his IP address until he makes the 1st post. You won't be able to guess is it him or just new member like that.

Usually those people stop after a short time because proxy IP is not the fastest thing out there to browse the web with. Those people stop shortly after being just ignored, they realize the fun is gone and they just waste time. However, craziness of those ppl is hard to measure and yes they can get too obsessed. Technically, you could find a large list of proxy servers in the world and try to disable access to site for those members via code but those solutions complicate things and are not really usable as it sounds.

i would suggest forcing them to fill out more fields when registering it will get annoying having to fill out a form over and over when its not as simple as email,username,password

Continue to ban his accounts.  Try not to interact with him like emails, private messages, social media, etc.

Thanks SLGray. I made the mistake of linking directly to his blog, so he is claiming to be the other 2 users in the thread now. I have completely shutdown new accounts all together. The guy is just generally stalking me now. He's not going to stop. He's a delusional schizophrenic. I'll just keep ignoring it I guess.....

What got u got to do that may be smart, instead of shutting new membership down 100% you should put in the default tou, your tou, and any where else you can, tell new users they need to email you (not your personal e-mail, create one just for this purpose) in order to have an admin activate the account. It allows a bit screening, besides this you can ban the ips, accounts, make your staff aware of this and suit up for a fight if need be. I would not stop user registeration all together though, always a bad idea in my opinion.

Corroborating this.  The forum has now been "banned" by forumotion.  It was the only support forum of its type on the internet, and is going to hurt a lot of people.  From what I can tell, one of the people that have been attacking the forum probably registered a false complaint/report.  

There was a lot of good info on that forum, and it was important to the mental wellbeing of a lot of people, myself included.  Hopefully this issue can be resolved shortly.
