Solved Your request timed out.

Post by Guardian-Angel February 14th 2015, 18:01

Hello

We are experiencing this problem again. Click send to post and this message is recieved.

Your request timed out. Please retry your request.

I'm not sure that we've had an answer as to why this happens, but it has been reported on previous occasions, but that topic is now locked.

Thanks

Yeah I experienced this again today too, on my forum. I forget to take a screenshot because I was in a rush, happened around 10:30 or 11 AM EST.

Solved Re: Your request timed out.

Post by Derri February 14th 2015, 19:46

It doesn't seem like a wide problem, perhaps a blip or it could even be down to connection. I checked with my Italian and German colleagues and they've had no reports. FM Social Media hasn't had report flood in (which usually we do if we its a wide spread problem e.g. 24 December)

So I think this is perhaps an isolated incident.

@Derri

There might not be reports because it does cause any major distruptions to forums or sites and their daily activites. It appears to happen at random on certain days and certain times throughout the day, usually I can just back space to the previous page or refresh and it fixes the problem, but it does it randomly for no reason, there was another topic on this... I do not know what happened to it.

Solved Re: Your request timed out.

There is nothing that can be done if the outages only last a few seconds and like we said if it was a wide spread problem for everyone then we'd hear about it, trust me. The request time-out can happen for a lot of reasons, not all necessarily relating to FM and since it could be random and for only a few seconds it would indicate being on a personal level as opposed to a server problem. Slow connections, internet blips and other reasons can produce that message and like I said its not necessarily always down to FM.

It seems to happen periodically to various users across the country and beyond, ever since the upgrades were completed.

It appears all is well today.

Solved Re: Your request timed out.

Post by brandon_g February 16th 2015, 00:19

Yep it is indeed fine today, as said above Derri, it happens on certain days, on occasion but it is not just isolated to coupl people when it does happen, when it happens it happens to a number of people across the country, those people just choose not to report it. This is also probably due to the fsct that it can be mistaken for a solitary connection issue. Smile

Until it happens again (and it will, just don't when),
So long for to this topic

There is no evidence to support what you've just said. Even after you reported this I checked multiple support forums, including the biggest one, the French support and no one had made a report as far as I could see and I spoke to some Admins and I also checked the social media and so far its been two reports made by yourselves regarding this.

Well based on this garbaged topic it seemed a big enough problem that buttercup was interested in it: https://help.forumotion.com/t138277-your-request-timed-out-please-retry-your-request

I do not much care really, it is not that huge of a deal, I am just saying it is something to look into and not just ignore and toss to the side. Me and Guardian are simply reporting what we has happened to us and I am also stating what I personally have observed.

I understand @derri is referring to now, however brandon and I are just advising that it happened again like it had several times before. Like he said, it's not just isolated to me or one or two users when it happens.

When it does happen, we automatically think it's fm because it's not an isolated issue to one or two users, so we report it.

No problem, all is well today with no time out issues.

TY!

At least now someone else has expereinced it. So that way you know it is not just 2 people making a bigger stink out of nothing then they should. It is not a big deal, I just personally think it is worth a look of someone high up, it is always good to fix a problem before it really becomes a problem. Smile That is just my personal thoughts on this, I understand Buttercup and the techs are busy with the chatbox and many other things right now but it is worth (i think) at least writing a note advising them of this so when they do have time they can take a wee look into it. Again this is just my thoughts, but you guys are the professionals, you do what you feel you need to do with this report, but I will contiune to personally report this issue whenever I experience it.

@Worst Nightmare

The issue that Gaurdian and myself are talking about in this thread has nothing to do with the chatbox, we are talking about how sometimes on a occasion when we try to load a page on an fm forum we get a 'request times out' message (probably from the sever) and need refresh, resend or rewrite a message or whatever else we were doing to fix the issue (for that one time). Sorry Sad.

@Worst Nightmare Please if you don't have anything to contribute then avoid posting as it adds to confusion. If you post something then decide you want it removed you'll notice that if you're last person to post in this thread then there is a little 'X' button.

Please use that, thanks Smile

Luckly, I do have a screenshot from a previous occasion for you.
