Solved A serious problem with my forumotion forum

Post by Przmus April 7th 2015, 3:53 am

I have accidentaly changed my forum version from "phpBB2" to "phpBB3".
Unfortunately it failed to restore skin, so I tried to restore theme by https://www.forumotion.com/utils
The forum still didn't look as before "change", so I did a restore of the full backup. Still the forum looks wrong, I lost all my theme changes. Every time I change a forum logo the theme changes completely.
Is there any way to restore my forum to make it look as before? I think it's some technical issue since restoring doesn't help Sad

The problem probably is that yes your utilities are restoring it was to how it was before, but sincd your changes were coded for phpbb2 and it is no longer that, the theme that it was on phpbb2 will not look the same unless it is re coded to fit phpbb3.

Solved Re: A serious problem with my forumotion forum

Thanks for the answer brandon_g. Have you maybe changed something on my forum now? Sorry, I don't know if you're able to do it, but for some reasons it looks fine now, so I thought you found the link to the forum in my other posts and restored it or something. For now it's as it was before, but I'm scared to change forum's logo to not ruin it...

EDIT:
Ok, it is actually very strange. I somehow managed to make the forum look as before, but when I make any change in the administration panel (for example when I want to change forum's logo), the theme is "destroyed" again. Then I can fix it by changing random settings (for example in Display / Headers & Navigation), and "Save" several times until it looks fine. For now I'll keep it as it is, and test tomorrow. Hopefuly it's just a bug after forum restore, and will be fixed automatically.

Thank you again for your post.

It works fine now, probably forum restoring requires more time. The administrator password was changed to the "FOUNDERS' TOOLS" one after few hours.
Thanks again for help.

It does take time for restoring your forum.
