Solved Table Head Background Issue

Post by Muddle Manor on April 18th 2015, 9:41 pm

Technical Details

Forum version : phpBB2
Position : Founder
Concerned browser(s) : Other
Screenshot of problem : http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae236/frog_9009/TSPsite/table%20head%20background%20issue_zpsfyfsrpqr.jpg
Who the problem concerns : All members
Forum link : ( link is hidden, you must reply to see )

Description of problem

Maybe I'm just rusty, maybe I'm being stupid and overlooking something simple here...  but I cannot seem to isolate and change the background image for "Topics, Posts, Last Post".  It's connected to the image I used for "Forum" table header, and I can't seem to get them separated.  (please refer to attached screenshot)  I have a new image that would be appropriate for the last 3 row headers, I just can't figure out how to modify those separately.  Really hoping someone knows the CSS identifiers for those areas.

I'm not the forum founder, but I'm using a test forum to access founder options to isolate the problem.  So I do have access to both CSS and Templates.

I'm using phpBB2

That is all under one CSS selector:
Code:
th {
    background-color: #fff;
    background-image: url("IMAGE LINK");
    color: #024F75;
    font-size: 11px;
    font-weight: 700;
    height: 25px;
    padding: 2px 3px;
}
You can edit the image and replace the background-image with the new one.

Hi, SLGray nice to see you still kickin' around here.  Smile  And thank you for the fast reply.

Your CSS selector affected the following screenshot area in purple.  Is there a way to only affect the last three headings titled "Topics, Posts, Last Posts" while leaving the left side ("Forum") unchanged?

You could take the background image that is there and edit it.

Both images are custom images I've made.  The way the main, single th header image is positioned and repeats itself once it gets to the new cells makes it near impossible to edit a single IMG file to look appropriate in all page instances.  *le sigh*

Starting to get the idea what I want simply isn't possible.  Would you agree with that and advise me to close the topic?

Completely understandable.  Thank you for the time you've taken with it today.  Can we keep this post open for a while in case anyone else comes along with a suggestion?  I'd appreciate it.  Smile

Hi,

You can use this rule for all table headers :
Code:
.forumline th { background:#F00 }

and this one for the first table header in the categories :
Code:
.forumline th.secondarytitle { background:#FF0 }

Hi, Ange Tuteur.  Thank you so very much!  That was precisely the fix I was hoping for.  It's perfect!  Here is a screencapture of the area (shown in blue) your combined code isolated.

I am so grateful, this will help me create the feel I want on this forum.   Very good

I will go and mark this topic solved : )
