Description of problem

So today a member's been e-mailing my board with the following:
Subject: [Contact] Lost my username and password
Please help me i ve forgotten my username and password and i only know my eamil adress
I've checked his e-mail address in the acp (check screenshot). Could not find an account made using his e-mail. I told him that he doesn't have an account, so he should try again, and he replied:
Subject: [Contact] i try to register
it says my e-mail is invalid
I told him it may be invalid because his e-mail address starts with www. and that the site might interpret it as a website, not an e-mail address, so it could render it invalid. I told him to try a different e-mail address, and he replied:
Subject: [Contact] i try to register
it say my emai is already in use
I've attached a screenshot showing that the search comes up empty.

The real problem is that when I use the "Search User" function, it doesn't look through the inactive users at all. And most often, the inactive ones I have to look for by e-mail. When I go to check
Administration Panel > Users & Groups > Users > Inactive List
I hit a wall because I don't know his username or date of registration. Going manually through dozens of pages is tiring.

So what I really ask for is to include a search function in the "inactive users" list.
Perhaps you can tell me if his e-mail address is invalid because it has www. in front.
I've e-mailed him successfully and the www. is really part of his e-mail address, so he can't take it out/exclude it. I'm not sure if he has another e-mail address. He's Russian and he may not understand my English responses very well. But I'm still curious.

As always, I truly appreciate the Forumotion team and your efforts Wink Best regards Very good

Hello,

First off I must first mention just out of personal experience I have never seen an email address with www. In my life Razz.

In regards to your issue, I do not think their is a search feature for this. May you ask this member what username he registered under? This may make your search easier. If all else fails, tell him to register with a suedo email address and manually activate it via the acp.

-Brandon

the guy is actually greek, not russian
I've e-mailed him twice on this address and he's received both e-mails
Spoiler:
I know, I was surprised to see the www. in front of it as well

He doesn't know what username he used so that's a dead-end.
I can tell him (again) to register with a different (or even fake) e-mail address, but I'd like a search in the inactive section as well, for future reference.

Best regards

Well without the username he registered with it will be mighty hard to find his account. Yeah probably a good idea to ask him to register again... If his real one does not work then tell him to put a fake in. Also make sure to tell him to pay attention to what user he picks. Tell him to write it down if he has to, or else you probably will run into the current issue again.

P.s on a side note I personally will be doing more research regarding the use of www. In email addresses... Is it something to do with countries.

Have you looked in the regular memberlist for this email address?

P.S.  I would bet the person would not want you to post his/hers email address on the PUBLIC forum.  I have removed it from your post.

Try using a wild card in the search:  type the part left of the @ and add * at the end.
