Create test account option in ACP.

Post by Sir. Mayo on May 7th 2015, 2:27 pm

Hello,

How many times have you seen some one asked to provide a test account, to fix something on their forum. Then you have to create one for them to use. I feel that Forumotion should have an option in the ACP that the admin pushes a button and it generates a Test account (With a random username and password)  that is good for a temporary amount of time.  Personally i feel that this is a feature that would be great for users, it saves them the pain of registering a new test account and linking it to an email and what not.

If any one is unclear about this please ask and i will better explain it.

I think it is unnecessary.

It is not hard to create a test account, so there is no need for a option.

I dunno I've always felt that random generated accounts can be useful and therefore would like this option, if you could keep the accounts.

If this is implemented, I do believe that @Sir. Mayo's suggestion will be useless. However, generating test accounts with expiration dates sounds like a good idea!

It could be useful, but a majority of the time problems can be solved simply by analyzing the forum, situation, and developer console for technical problems. Normally a test account is required if the administrator has the forum private, which in turn prevents us from further investigating matters. Other times it can be for direct AP access, but that's rarely needed when we can give direct instructions.

Even if we need a test account to view the forum, it's not too hard to create a new account and unsubscribe it later.. Wink
