Re: Free Windows 10 Upgrade
I got my Email today saying i can now get my windows 10 on one of my laptops but the other one has not even had the little app at all and it is a new computer well a year old i am still saying to my self go with windows update or not .... I did read on the app thing that if you find you don't like the update MS will let you have your older windows back again... My problem is i have 100's of files and other things on my laptop and i was told that all data will be lost and i have not got time to back it all up again and put my printers and other things back on the laptop so right now im thinking shell i or don't i

It could be that your other laptop does not meet the requirements of the offer.APE wrote:I got my Email today saying i can now get my windows 10 on one of my laptops but the other one has not even had the little app at all and it is a new computer well a year old i am still saying to my self go with windows update or not .... No, I have not today. From what I have read, it is buggy. You have a good reason to worry. Wait for another six months. They might have a patch by then. As for me though, I will wait for a couple of years. I have no intention of upgrading my Win7. I prefer to buy the best version of Win10 and install it on a separate drive just in case.

Re: Free Windows 10 Upgrade
To those worried about losing their files, no, the update does NOT delete your information or anything when you go from your old Windows version to Windows 10.
Updating to Windows 10 allows you to either have the default selection which is to keep EVERYTHING you have, or you can select one by one what things is kept during the update!
Please do not be afraid of Windows 10! (:
I think it will be a huge improvement for ANYONE that is stuck with Windows 8/8.1 on a laptop or desktop -- I say be gone with this Windows 8 junk!

In other words they are going to force the upgrade on everyone? That is so not cool and little selfish of Microsoft!
Re: Free Windows 10 Upgrade
That's why I'm still doing some researches before making the update. We all know new updates usually cause lots of issues especially the security and privacy. I love new features of windows 10 but i think I'll happily stay on windows 8.1 till then, when windows 10 has done a full commercial rollout, I'll switch contentedly.Captain Hunk wrote:No, I have not today. Re: Free Windows 10 Upgrade

@brandon_g if you didn't want to download you wouldn't have opened the app and clicked on "Book a version for me" :opss:

Well said!
To be clear, it's okay for others to chance it and take the free upgrade so long as they are comfortable with their choice. Win10 does show some promise. What I did not like was how Microsoft added this to the monthly updates which most users were unaware of until their computer rebooted. Rather sneaky. I am among the few that made sure that patch/update was not installed in my computer. So, no annoying pop-ups for me asking if I like to upgrade to Win10.

Re: Free Windows 10 Upgrade
You will get an upgrade to Windows 10 for life if you have have a legitimate installation of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. Pirated versions won't get it. The upgrade is free for life but be warned, if you want to play Solitaire or other games that usually came with Windows, you have to download them from the Microsoft store with a Microsoft account. And this is where Microsoft get shifty, the games come with advertising and it costs you x amount of $ a year to have the adds removed or put up with the advertising. Not to mention the amount of personal data being tracked on your pc.
Personally i Wouldn't touch Windows 10 with an iron bar, stick with Windows 7 or 8.1 if you can or better still, use a Linux distribution, much safer and it's free.

Re: Free Windows 10 Upgrade
I have windows 10 from July and i only had some problems when i first made the upgrade. I think it's better than any other windows and a lot faster than any other version. I highly recommend them!
Re: Free Windows 10 Upgrade
Good to know that @Luffy! What are the problems you've experienced and how did you manage to fix them?

Re: Free Windows 10 Upgrade
Look when i first made the upgrade i had no problems as the upgrade did not change anything and it kept all my files as they were. I wanted to do a format after that and have the default windows 10 which i did. After the format i had some issues and some errors with the windows that i fixed watching videos from youtube about each of them. I had 3 errors that i fixed alone very easily. It's simple and easy for me and as i said above i highly recommend them to anyone.

Re: Free Windows 10 Upgrade
I also recommend the update. I only had a problem with skype. Before updating everything worked perfect on it, once I took the upgrade I did listen to my friends on skype with lag. It self-solved in 2-3 days. Everything else works perfect. I haven't missed my W7 yet.
I uptated in mid July

Re: Free Windows 10 Upgrade
Updated my win 7 to win 10 on august 10 and I'm really pleased with it
I updated for 2 friends the 8.1 to windows 10 with the windows 10 creation tool, last month and two week ago, with succes.
For those who don't know in windows 10 ( also in 8.1) the F8 solution wont work if you can't get acces to your computer when that is the only solution.
But there is a way to make that F8 button work again. You have to do it on forehand so when its to late off course you can not manage to change a function of a button in the prompt
If anyone is wanting to know the solution just ask and if its okay I can provide the steps, wich are really easy in fact
so far for windows 10 lots of thing already have been improved in windows 10
