Solved Regististration says e-mail doesn't match username

Post by Discjocke52 on June 9th 2015, 3:28 pm

I'm ready to bring members from an old current forum. When they try to register, it tells them the e-mail doesn't match the username. I had this is with one of my moderators and had to setup the account myself.

It seems the usernames they're using are already in the forum database, but they aren't, as this is fairly new forum setup.

I'm giving myself a target of June 11th to transition forums.

I had a similar issue with the same conditions . If you are using Maxthon there are several user / member functions the administrator cannot change( which is extremely unfortunate considering Maxthon has many other user friendly functions not available in any other browsers ) . You must be logged in in Internet Explorer to administer users .( IE only to administrate users ) Then you may manually edit each member . If you don't want to do that . The fix was a forum restore . It fixed the issue of not matching emails usernames and passwords . Additionally it brought back members that would rather not have returned and also restored original usernames and emails . Any extra was just deleted by myself . Believe me this was a serious issue for me with little input from support . It was especially frustrating because during my troubles a mod here successfully logged in with no issues . Lol go figure .
It may have been a resynchronization

That's not good, as members will get frustrated too much and forget about it completely.

I have to get out of the current forum I have, due to shutdowns and other issues. I post news articles all day and can't afford for system to be down.

No it is not good . But reasonable members will understand you are experiencing administrative block walls and stand by you until it is remedied .

Lol . You are saying " I know the reasonable ones will , but what about all the other idiots ? " All I can say is . It's their loss .

Yes I do hear there are a few flaws with FM's registerstation system, it should not say the enail is used if it is not. Are they registered under any accounts on the new forum?

Solved Re: Regististration says e-mail doesn't match username

Post by Discjocke52 on June 10th 2015, 1:02 am

This is very new and the only one's other than myself are my two Mod's. One had same issues. I had to setup the account for them and advised to update pswrd once they were in.

I setup the first regular member from my current forum and had to set it up for them. When I tried to log in to test it, got error message. Nobody else is in it or had this forum before me. Getting a little frustrating, as I can't spend a lot of time manually setting up accounts. Too much time posting news articles.

I hope support can assist me on this. I'd hate to go elsewhere, as I spent a good portion of my time setting this one up and quite happy with the features.

Should I message any other forum or board to get direct support from a techy?

Have you check this:

AP > Users & Groups > Users > Inactive List

To see if the accounts were exactly created.

Is it that it doesnt accept the email address itself, or the username as well?

This is what it says: "Sorry, but this username has already been taken.". And it hasn't been taken.

I tried a different name and tells me the same thing.

Have checked to make sure that the usernames or part of the usernames arent being censored? This can be checked in ACP-->General-->Censorship (i think... Dont ever really pay attention to this area of the acp)--->Username censoring .

Check here:

AP > General > Forum > Security
Look for the one that says something about subscriptions/usernames.

"Unauthorize subscriptions made with the most commonly used spam usernames.:"

I changed it from "yes" to "no". Going to test it.

Seems it was picking up the name as a spam name.

You're a champ.
