In progress forum hiccup

Post by W007 on June 18th 2015, 1:59 am

I had to make yet another account to deal with this because I keep forgetting my other accounts here. I have a site that for what ever reasons keeps coming up with this error message:

Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at hsotd-wz.forumcanadien.org.

Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I do not know how to mess with firewalls or anything like that. I almost wonder if I just need the utility to redo the site url or something. I haven't done anything with the site in a long time and yet the other sites which were just as inactive are just fine. So why just this one site and why now?

I have no trouble loading your forum.  It must be on your side.  Is this happening to all your members?

I sent the url to someone who wanted to check it out and he couldn't get to it all. It was set up to go through a California url. As such I have no clue why it would have been reset to Canada? Though I was hoping to maybe get it reset to an area /time zone closer to Oregon being -8gmt if I remember correctly what the pacific time zone is. Any help to fix this is appreciated. I used to have a tool to edit the url, which was given to me by a staff member here, but a few HD crashes, reformats etc.. later and I no longer have that tool in an accessible format, it may be on an external HD I have. But I am unable to access anything on that HD at present. Sad

that would make sense if I got anything other than an error message saying the site doesn't exist or is blocked by my firewall. A few months ago I had logged onto it and my settings haven't changed on my lap top so I have no idea what is going on unless the change in settings for url locations acts the same way that yahoo does? I have a friend in Canada who couldn't log into any of my e-mail accounts whether he wanted to or not. In fact he considered moving to the US until he found out he likely wouldn't be able to log into his own e-mail account if he did move here. Still considering the server not found aspect of the error message, logging in isn't possible sadly.

Okay I tried the utility on a forum I can access and log onto, it says the information I am using is wrong. I wonder why that is?

Code:
[b]Device Used:[/b] unknown likely lap top but I can't be sure
[b]Browser:[/b] unknown
[b]Location of Member:[/b] England I think, not sure where Parson Drove happens to be located at.

He tried to log on so he could check the forum out and maybe register, but he can't get that far, nor can I get far enough to log on myself. :(

If this is your forum ( http://hsotd-wz.forumcanadien.org/ ), it loads just fine for me.  If it loads for me then there is an issue on your side.

I got to it now, I didn't think the link you posted would work any better than the one I book marked. Still new to a lot of this stuff. *bows*

okay I accessed the forum url but I am not sure how exactly to edit it to remove the potential of future problems with it. please advise me on how this needs to be done and thank you all for the help so far. much less putting up with my being dense on some of this stuff. technical things are still one of my weak points but I hope to change that at some point in the future.
