Solved background/transparency problems.

Post by ProfaneValkyrie on July 5th 2015, 11:40 am

Hallo everyone.
I have just made this new forum thenextplanet.danskforum.net which is forumversion phpBB 3
I'm still the founder of my old active forum newworld.danskforum.net which is a forumversion phpBB 2.

I have been looking through your achieves and haven't found a topic which had a solution which worked for me(I have tried different CSS codes)

I do not know how to make my new forum as transparent as my old one, so the background can be really shown through.

This is my new forum, and as you can see, you can only barely see the background at the edges. thenextplanet.danskforum.net

this is my old forum and as you can see you can see the background at the header, the bottom, around the who is online box and chatbox, around the widgets and the catagories. newworld.danskforum.net it is probably best that you scroll around.
this is the top of the page

and this is the bottom.

I really hope that someone can help me because it is really important for the apparence of my new forum ^^

yours
profaneValkyri

Hello,

I would presume that the 2nd and 3rd images are of your old forum (since the theme/design seems well established), is that correct? Also you said you have used and/or tried different css codes to try and get the same result, correct? May you provide us with the css code in question?

Hello,

You have wider forum and a background color in your wrapper. There are no space exist to see background. To create spaces, you should remove background color from wrap. Or you can make it transparent.

Try this in your CSS:
Code:
#wrap{background-color:rgba(240, 240, 240, 0.8);}

80% transparent color for background so you can see image through your forum.

@brandon_g
yes those two are of my old forum
And sorry, of course I should have thought about keeping the codes which did not work for me.
But yeah I do no longer remember the codes, sorry for that.

@3uphemia
It worked! thank you ^^

But I still have two problems!

First problem
On my old forum the "who is online" box at the bottom has also become transparent which is not the case in my old forum.
You can see in my first post the third picture show the bottom of my old forum and there the who is online box isn't transparent but black.
I also want that in my new forum.

here is the picture of my new forum and the transparent who is online box ^^

Second problem.
the "Background color 3" is still visible and I want it to be transparent too.
You can see the grey box at the bottom in the picture just above about the first problem.

Add this code to your CSS.
Code:
#main {background: #fcfcfc;}
If you want to see background between forum table and who is online table, I can edit template if you want.

_____________________________________

To remove that grey background, you should change that code in you css:
Code:
.navbar {background-color: #e6e3e3;}
to another color, or transparent.

@3uphemia
Yes I do want to be able to see the background between the who is online box and between the categories themselves, as you can see in my first post, the two pictures of my old forum, there you can see the background between the catagories themselves and the who is online box.

And really many many thanks for the help so far ! I do really appreciate it! Smile

Okay. I cant see if you have any space between categories, I am able to see only one category. To seperate who is online box, we are going to add a new class to it.

1. Find this part in your index_body template:
Code:
<!-- BEGIN disable_viewonline -->
replace with:
Code:
<div class="whoisonline-box">
<!-- BEGIN disable_viewonline -->

2. Find this part in your index_body template:
Code:
<!-- END switch_statistics_nolink -->
replace with:
Code:
<!-- END switch_statistics_nolink -->
</div>

3. Save the template.
4. Go to your CSS and add this:

Code:
.whoisonline-box {background: #fcfcfc;}

You should delete your main background too:

Code:
#main {background: #fcfcfc;}

Oh, you said problem is solved but it didnt actually. Your statics are placed out of box. ^^'

Remove added </div> and add it above this code:

Code:
<!-- BEGIN switch_chatbox_activate -->

Well that is just because I want to try to get rid of the statistic box anyway ^^

The code worked, so now it should be solved XD
