I would say that this will never be implemented because it deals with security of your forum.

If it won't be implemented then shouldn't this thread be locked and archived regardless of public response?

I edited my post to sound more like an option.

Gotcha, just seems kinda pointless to erase a log of activity that's intended for the transparency of a forum. Especially if you have multiple admins.

Why do you have to have over 100-200 pages of log 3 years ago?

You don't need 200 pages but then again, does it matter so much? Its more to ensure the security of your forum as the forum logs are important if your forum is ever hacked or bug appears on your forum, it can be useful to see what happened recently and possibly even beforehand.

Do you need 200 pages? Probably not but then if shortened, we'd have people complain that they cannot keep sufficient records of going ons.

I can see the merit in your suggestion as you might not was 200 pages to sift through or you might want to delete them for some other reason but I think that because it does no harm in having that many and because they can be useful to both users and the officials at FM (In case of issues with said forum) then I don't think it would be likely this would be implemented.

Well I personally would never want to delete the stuff from my forums logs, they are important. I would say if its possible to add a last button or maybe hide some from view but not get rid of them would be an idea to make the system better. I suppose the longer your forum is around, the longer the log will get, as it will with members, the longer your is around and the more users that register, the longer the members log will be.

Hello.

Imagine that you would be able to do it. Then, imagine that one day, an intruder gets your Admin password, destroy all and finally, he delete all the log to eliminate all the possible "fingerprints" so you would not be able to trace his actions or his IP address etc.

You would not be able to investigate anything because all the clues has disappeared.

As people said in the prior posts, this would be bad for security.

Hello!

Yeah, that's true. But they could add this option in the Founders' tools , so only the founder could activate this option.

Greetings,
Raffy.

Do you mean that only the founder will have this option to delete the logs?  If yes, a hacker still can do this when they hack the founder account.

Hello!

I'm suprised with your fantasy! Do you really think a hacker would spend his prestigious time with deleting a forumotion log? Well, could be. huhohi

Greetings.

Greetings.

He (the intruder) should do it (unless he wants to be traced and catched)

The thing is: I don´t see the point of deleting the log. This is not something that disturb at all (at least from my point of view) and always its better to have more information than we need.

In security, MORE is always BETTER, definately Wink

Why would you do that? It doesn't have to be a hacker the one who deletes the log. An administrator could do. If he erases one post by mistake and he erase the log nobody could see who did it, so it can create controversy in forums. It's good as it is now. Why change things to worst?

Voted no.

Not sure why you want to edit or delete the logs
It has nothing to do with your running of your forum and it don't speed or slow down your forum.
it's just a log of what members and staff have done on your site and to show you if something has been added or removed and what time.

If your deleted a log by mistake then it would be gone for ever as yu would have to have server side use and you don't have that so that's why we don't offer your the tools to remove them and i think that's why your will never have this done.

My Vote is going to be NO as i see no point in having it changed and nothing will change my mind.
