More Topic icons for the support forum~

Post by Guest on July 30th 2015, 10:25 pm

I think there should be more topic icons for the support forum then just "none" and "solved" Don't you think? Icons like: A warning sign, Biohazard Symbol, etc..

What would be the purpose of the warning topic icon?

We generally have more icons than the "solved" and "none" icons. Those are the only two available to members. We have :

solved : Used by members and staff to mark topics solved once a solution has been reached.

in progress : This is used to mark a topic as "in progress" when a staff member intervenes.

complete : This was previously used by the graphic team to mark completed requests, but it's now being used to mark completed reviews. In the past members could mark their requests completed themselves, however this was changed awhile back.

pro admin : Topics marked for the pro admin to handle.

important : Important topics that should be read.

We'll only add more icons that have a specific function in the forum. The purpose of the current icons available to members is so that they only mark their topics solved when they're solved, and not with an icon other than that.

I don't think we need more as it would detract from the usefulness.

Those are the default for members..
If you want to have more icons, just help in the support forum and in some months you will get promoted to support moderator or any other rank.

I like how is configured now and i don't need more topic icons.

Voted No Wink

What would the purpose be of adding these topic icons for members? It would only lead to abuse of topic icons and we already have topic icons like the ones you're suggesting but only staff can use them so when we do use them they're effective in showing that a topic is important.

Plus the topic icon for members would end up being overwritten by staff when moderating e.g. In the support section when we mark a topic 'in progress'

I agree, I like things how they are. It is fairly effective, staff can see the other ones and that is all that need to see it.

I even find people often don't know to actually mark the topic solved with the icons. Usually they just say you can consider this solved and then staff mark it and move it. Really only users who have been on the support forum for a couple months or so or more use them, others either don't know how to use it, or just dont.

My point is, the system is fine the way it is and sometimes users dont even use the current icons available.

Voted NO.

Remember to mark your topic when a solution is found.
