Solved Username Taken

Post by Kfalash August 3rd 2015, 5:56 am

So, I have a new forum with only 3 (Now 4) Users registered. I wanted to make a test account that I would soon delete but when I wanted the name 'Test' it said the name was taken. I also tried 'Testing' but it said that was taken also. No one registered with that name so is there a reason why this was happening?

Please say if you need the forum link I will gladly give it if it will help.

*On a side note sorry if this is in the wrong place but I've just been lurking around and getting stuff I needed but couldn't find anything for this.*

Hi,

Try this:

ACP(Admin Control Panel) > General > Forum > Security > Security Administration > Unauthorize subscriptions made with the most commonly used spam usernames. > No > Save

Then try and sign up with an account called 'Test'

Thank you, that worked!

I'll have to remember that if anyone else needs help with that.

Also, thank you for the quick reply, I wasn't expecting it to be that quick, thanks.

This is now solved ^-^

The option blocks usernames that are very common so I recommend leaving it disabled otherwise you'll run into this problem often.

I'm glad I could solve your problem.
