Solved Banner Sizing

Post by GBDawg1 on August 16th 2015, 10:28 am

Not sure whether this can be done, but is it possible for the banner heading to be "stretched" depending upon what kind of device you are accessing the site from?

With my site, the banner looks fine when you access the site from a laptop. The banner takes up most of the room with a bit of text to the side.

However, when I access it from a pc with a bigger screen, the banner is still the same size, but the text area to the right of it is a lot bigger and makes the banner look rather "empty".

What I am hoping is that there is a way to keep the relative sizes constant irrespective of what kind of device you access the site from. Hope this makes sense - is it possible? If so, how?

Many thanks.

Solved Re: Banner Sizing

Hi @GBDawg1,

The best solution would be to use CSS to manipulate the size of the image. Apply the following to your stylesheet.
Display > Colors > CSS stylesheet
Code:
#logo { float:none }
#logo img { width:99% }

Change the 99% to a lower or higher number. 99% means that it will take up the majority of the header bar, regardless of screen resolution.

That has worked perfectly thanks.

Am I able to adjust the height by using the same formula #logo img { height:x% } ?

Yes, however for height, you will need to either define the dimensions in px, cm, em, etc..

Like this :
Code:
#logo img {
  width:99%;
  height:250px;
}

Height defined as a percent usually only works for absolute or fixed elements, or if the parent already has a defined height.
