Threads sometimes centered rather than left-justified, and Ads over posts
We have had reports from posters that sometimes when they click on a new thread, or when they've just posted to a thread, the posts show up centered rather than left-justified. The next time they go back to that same place, the threads'll be left-justified again. This happens for both Firefox and IE. The entire page randomly goes from left justified to centered and back to normal when opening a thread or closing one.
What's more bothersome is the ad banner that dangles itself over the first couple of threads. It positions itself in a way that you can't open on the last post. No way to X it out.
Is this a board coding issue or the user's browser issue?
PS: A user just noticed that today each time the threads went centered, the ad for XFinity was in the dangling banner.

Hello,
What do you mean by 'centered'? May you provide a screenshot? What is the url to the forum?

Re: Threads sometimes centered rather than left-justified, and Ads over posts
I mean all the posts are center justified instead of left justified. I am not experiencing this problem myself. So I don't have a screenshot. The url is http://bachchat.forumotion.com/brandon_g wrote:Hello,

May you ask your users for a screenshot of the issue for us?

Re: Threads sometimes centered rather than left-justified, and Ads over posts
The posters who are experiencing this don't know how to do screenshots, but I got this message from one of them tonight: "Okay, it's definitely the xfinity ad that wonks the screen to center. When the ad changes, the left justification returns. Weird?"
So I guess it is the Ad on the forum that makes all the messages center aligned. Not sure if this has anything to do with people's browser settings though. The browsers that are affected so far are IE and Firefox. I have not heard problems from people who use Chrome. Maybe it is only the xfinity ad that is causing the problem?

May you ask your users that are experiencing the problem, to read this tutorial? https://help.forumotion.com/t140199-how-to-take-a-screenshot?highlight=how+to+take+a+screenshot
May you also ask them for the url of the ad (this means clicking it).

Our users are unable/unwilling to take screenshots of the issue. However, one of them did click on the Ad that is causing the problem and the url is:

Ok, well it is a little hard to fully understand the issue and visualize it without a screenshot.
From what I can gather, 1 specific ad mis aligns the site terribly. Is this correct? If so, this issue will likely require a staff member to look into this, because ads are beyond our and your control and will likely need to be fixed on FM's side of things.

Edit: Looks like I was right, Pro Admin Buttercup will have to look into this, she will assist you further on this issue.

Re: Threads sometimes centered rather than left-justified, and Ads over posts
Hello
To be honest, I don't really understand the problem. If I well understand when you click on a thread the whole text in centred then back to the normal?
The problem lets me think of a cache issue... Especially if the text back to normal immediately.
I don't really understand the link with the ads??? Maybe you can explain. I browsed your forum and didn't encourage the same issue. A screeshot would be really helpful
Thanks

Re: Threads sometimes centered rather than left-justified, and Ads over posts
Hi @Buttercup ,
From what I could gather from the topic starter, it seems users on their site are reporting that when an ad by inifinity appears, it seens to center the layout of the site. They claim it only happens when this ad appears.
None the less, I did explain it is hard to understand fully and visual their issue without a screenshot.
I hope this explaination can help you better understand where the ad links came into this issue and how it relates.

Mummm I think without the Ad code it would be hard to find where the problem is coming from...
Here a short tutorial to provide information about the ad displayed:
Like that we will be able to know if the ad is making trouble or not
