Solved Profile edit window nav

Post by Kami-sama on September 16th 2015, 1:50 pm

Hello!

I have a small question about profile edition window navigation/menu.
Is it possible to give navigation links (information/settings/signature/...) a background, glow or etc to make them stand out from the background without changing text/link color.

My forum version is phpbb2.
Advance profile is not activated.

EDIT: This is what code I used to use:
Code:
.gen{
  background-image: url("....");
}

Hi @Kami-sama,

I apologize for the late reply. Unfortunately phpbb2 lacks selectors, but you should be able to do this :
Code:
span.gen > a.mainmenu[href^="/profile"], span.gen > a.mainmenu[href^="/search"] {
  background:#EEE;
}

Osom! It worked nicely! Thank you very much!

Is it possible to do the same for navigation (?) above topics list?
I mean, for something like this: Forum name:: Category name:: Curent forum name
Here it would be this part: The forum of the forums :: Support forum :: Forum Design & Appearance Help
I hope you understand what I mean Very Happy I think it is called your "road", but have no idea how you call it in english.

Yeah, you should actually be able to set a background for the container of that navigation. Add this rule to your stylesheet :
Code:
td.nav > span.nav {
  background:#EEE;
  border:1px solid #CCC;
  border-radius:3px;
  display:inline-block;
  padding:3px;
}

I think the term used quite often is "breadcrumbs" sorta like leaving a trail of breadcrumbs on your way, so you can find your way back. Razz

Ah yes, breadcrumbs. I am familiar with this, yet do not use it very often.

Hm, the code did not work, but I think it is due to my changes of the templates.
In witch temple breadcrumbs are initialized?
EDIT: So it is in fact visible, but only already selected topic. What about when you just enter a forum and looking into topic list?

Oh yes, you're right. Try changing it to this :
Code:
div.nav, td.nav > span.nav {
  background:#EEE;
  border:1px solid #CCC;
  border-radius:3px;
  display:inline-block;
  padding:3px;
}

Yes, that works great! Thank you very much!

One last thing, for the private messages it would be:

Code:
span.gen > a.mainmenu[href^="/privmsg"], span.gen > a.mainmenu[href^="/search"] {
  background:#EEE;
}

Or something similar? I am just assuming.
Also, maybe an identifier could be added to the profile nav code you posted before Smile

The PMs are a little different, but this should work :
Code:
span.gen b a[href^="/privmsg"] {
  background:#EEE;
}

I think you can edit the template for the privmsg page, so that way you can add some unique classes if you want. Smile
