#821 Ads appear on the registration form/Ads appeaing in the wrong places
This does not happen all the time (obviously), but in this case, one of my members was registering, and they could not fill out the form because the page was blocked by an ad. I know it is not a script I put in their (since this does not happen all the time), so it is obviously a bug. It happened to me once on the Internet Explorer, and this member reported it on Google Chrome, so it happens on multiple browsers.

This is actually happening on my forum sometimes too, like when I'm trying to make a post, maybe it's a global issue, not sure?

Hi,
I had a chance to have a look at the problem. Multiple iframes seem to be misplacing the advert and obstructing content on the page :

Re: #821 Ads appear on the registration form/Ads appeaing in the wrong places
You cannot fix this yourself directly. You're doing nothing wrong as far as I can tell.
We will have to wait for an official response for an explanation.

Re: #821 Ads appear on the registration form/Ads appeaing in the wrong places
I posted something similar to this here
https://help.forumotion.com/t131582-misplacement-of-advertising-banner-portal-log-in-pages
I don't mind the ads -- which I think is really cool -- but, they are interferring with the log in page and they are misplaced on the portal page. It kinda sorta covers up they information I have on the front page.

Re: #821 Ads appear on the registration form/Ads appeaing in the wrong places
We are having a problem with the ad, too. In our case, it displays below the ad box, and I get a "Firefox prevented a pop-up" message, as you can see at the top.

Members say it blocks their log in, if they use log in from the navigation bar. When I see it, it blocks the Homepage Message.
Thanks for continuing to work on the problem!

Re: #821 Ads appear on the registration form/Ads appeaing in the wrong places
As stated in the posts above the advert is not in its rightful place. Its lower and overlaps part of my forum. Can I get this fixed please?

Yup, just saw this today at the Log In. Refreshing the page tends to clear it up BUT only after the ad finishes. So it appears we are forced to wait until the ad ends. Happens when I Log In and after I Log Out. How peculiar. I find it hard to believe that its just a boo boo. Its just a new way to annoy us with force-fed ads.

Re: #821 Ads appear on the registration form/Ads appeaing in the wrong places
I'll report in this topic too that this ad situation is happening on my forum for anyone trying to login.
The ad doesn't always block the login, but it does seem sometimes to be out of its designated spot where its suppose to be. The google ads seem to try an gravitate towards the login boxes. My guess is the ads are detecting the text boxes where you write your name and password and for some reason are programed to block the area. If its google knowingly responsible for this action in an effort to make the visitors read the ads it would not surprise me, because they consciously support and allow misleading ads to be displayed by there server. For example ads on your forum telling you that you have 1 private message waiting for you, and to click it to read it. Its not a PM and you'll find that out if you click it. Its an ad selling something. But I think the intention was they hope a visitor might think your forum sent the message. There are other misleading ads they display too. People should be made aware of that.
So I wouldn't be surprised if they used this login blocking tactic either so you'll read it and take notice, and possibly click the ad.
Its quite possible all forumotion can do is ask google to please not show those ads on there forums. If google agrees or not is another story. Google is a money making machine and are not above putting tricky misleading ads up if it will turn a profit.

Re: #821 Ads appear on the registration form/Ads appeaing in the wrong places
I paid to have ads removed for members so it isn't an issue for those logged in. I am having this issue for guests who could be potential members though, it is covering the actual Join button I have setup. Here is a screenshot of it and my site is: www.designerssociety.net
Re: #821 Ads appear on the registration form/Ads appeaing in the wrong places
That's my situation too but I do not pay to remove ads. Members logged in do not get ads on my forum only guests (people not logged in) get them, because it was created in 2008 when forumotion forums had the option in the Admin Panel to only show ads to guests. It was a free option because the forum was created back in 2008 when "no ads" was what forumotion advertised and was our understanding. To forumotions credit they have stood by that. I still have that option as does other forums from 2008 and earlier, and I get no ads. But newer forums after 2008 do not have that option unless they pay.DesignersSociety wrote:I paid to have ads removed for members so it isn't an issue for those logged in. What do you think is the significance of so many Milky Way ads?
Why Milky Way?
