My Own Apple Touch Icon wont' show, only generic one

Description of problem

Read the Tutorial Apple Touch Icon

Created by own icon, put on my c drive/root directory (is that correct?), in a folder called apple-touch-icon-precomposed

In that folder is a png image (12K) called easyarneicon

I inserted at Admin panel>> Display>> Templates>> General>> overall_header…after last line:
<link rel="apple-touch-icon-precomposed" href="/LINK_easyarneicon">
instead of the tutorial’s <link rel="apple-touch-icon-precomposed" href="/LINK_ICONA">

I can get a generic icon – thank you – but would like my icon called easyarne.
What am I doing wrong?

Lastly, I believe I am on PHPBB2 forum, if I am incorrect, please let me know & I will change profile...I did look at the help and was stumped as I have a home button.

Does the link exactly have the word LINK in it?

Also did you publish the template?

I have done with and without "LINK"...just put link back in, in case you look at.
Still doesn't show my own icon, only generic icon.
I do publish each time I make a change.

Ok.  After reading your post again, you need to upload the image to an image hosting site.

How do I upload an image to hosting site?
Newbie here, bear w/me.
I tried pic management, forum main logo, upload a pic, browsed to find, but then there was no "host" button. But I did save. Went back to Templates general and refreshed/published again...still generic icon, not mine.

You can use the one that comes built in to every forumotion forum, servimg. If you go to pics management (advanced mode) you will see an upload button, copy and paste the link it gives you where it is needed.

I have you uploaded your image to an image hosting site?  If yes, they give you different links to use.

Image was uploaded, now what do I do?

Now look for a link like the one below by the image you uploaded.

Clear your browser on your mobile device and check again.

cleared browser, No luck.. cleared on ipad, no luck. tried on iphone 5 (that has yet to access forum) no luck.

Please post a screenshot of what you see on your mobile device.

ugh, have it in a picture file on my computer, how do I get it here. ie insert an image? "host an image did nothing. I'm so sorry.

I was, so just did mobile, still no luck...and cleared browser again.

should this be a favicon instead? obviously im not technical, but something I ran across yesterday while trying, but didn't dare touch that.

Did you save the changes in the template and then publish the modified template?

Did you press the button for the menu to add the icon your phone?

That is what I am doing and the issue here, It is giving me a generic icon/screenshot of the forum. I would like the icon to be the one I created and uploaded.
