question related to users and members

hi all ,

i need to know what is the different between users and members ..usually who register appears as a User .. but how i can decide if he would be a member or automatically will be updated ?? and how i should make privet area just for members ?? this privet area ..can all read ..but can press on any link add at this privet area ..as we can say he can just read the content? and can do any download for this link just by my permission .. please write me the exact way and steps to do it ..

To create a private area, you will have to create a group then set the permissions for that area for that group.

For the group go to:

ACP(Admin Control Panel) > Users and Groups > Groups > Group Administration > Group Administration

For the private area/forum go to:

ACP(Admin Control Panel) > General > Forum > Categories and forums > Categories and forums

For example what should mark at the forum ..and for the member's in order to give them the permission or not ..the main idea for this forum to add some links ..or shortcuts they can see (read ) but cant open it .. just when i give the permission .

You just go to the permissions for that forum, make it so that only those in the create and above can write and reply, leave 'can read the topics' set for members if you wish for them to be able to read the topics.

i just tried ..and i see that they can press the link and open it ..i need to just see it but stop redirecting them .
