Transfering my existing doman to forumotion
Hello, I have searched thru the read me file and searched for domain transfers and really haven't located a solution that fits my needs.
I have a existing domain that expires on 10-16-2016 with Bluehost. it's name is realhardcoreracing.com My service account for my site at Bluehost expires in 3 days, I have built a site here on forumotion named realhardcoreracing.forumotion.com.
I would like to use my domain to my forumotion address realhardcoreracing.forumotion.com.
On my Bluehost account setting I was told by their staff to use their custom nameserver
It has 2 block areas for me to enter website info, nothing about cname.
Here is my current nameserver set up
ns1.bluehost.com 74.220.195.31
ns2.bluehost.com 69.89.16.4
I Guess ns1 is the front side of the website and ns2 is the cpanel side
Those 2 blocks for the custom nameserver at bluehost do I point both blocks to realhardcoreracing.forumotion.com
Any help to get this done correctly,Thanks Steve

Re: Transfering my existing doman to forumotion
Brandon thanks for the quick reply, but I had read this tutorial and many others and I do not have the option of CNAME from my current host, Just 2 blocks to add forwards addresses.
I talked to the techs at Bluehost and this is my only option. They say it will work if I use the right info.

Re: Transfering my existing doman to forumotion
Well have you followed the instructions from the other host? Have you entered your domain name url in your forum ACP (same place the tutorial indicated).

Re: Transfering my existing doman to forumotion
Brandon, I have 2 spaces to fill, NS1 and NS2, and no not yet on the acp that has to be done last? correct?
I have looked on my host site and I think the tech over there. I will call them in the morning as I saw a transfer method which included CNAME but he said I could only use the custom method.

Re: Transfering my existing doman to forumotion
I would try adding it in the ACP now. That should begin making a redirection to your forum.
Do you know what NS1 and NS2 are?

Re: Transfering my existing doman to forumotion
Brandon I just did, try the acp name no go.The NS1 should be realhardcoreracing.forumotion.com
I am asking about the other NS2 I have not a clue, I do know it carry's email stats etc info.
I think I got a un informed tech today or he just blew me off due to it being time for his break or go home time.
I can say this, all the techs I had used there in the past were 110% above board

Re: Transfering my existing doman to forumotion
Well as it is their system, you may want ask what NS2 is. As it is not our system, we can't really help you very much in that regard.

Re: Transfering my existing doman to forumotion
Brandon, Thanks and I mean that most times I figure things out on my on, as I said I went back to their panel and searched and their is a CNAME process, the tech was saying I could only use their custom nameserver which has the 2 spots ns1 and ns2.
He very well could had a valid reason for pointing me to the custom nameserver, In doing some reading I found I may not be able to move/transfer my NS using CNAME info for 60 days due to date renewed of my domain.
I will phone them and find out tomorrow. Thanks again Steve
PS I have not changed anything yet, My old site still has 2 days left on contract.

Re: Transfering my existing doman to forumotion
Brandon here is a short video showing there process you can see the NS1 and 2 I was speaking of.The EPP Code is a password that must be given to a registrar to initiate a transfer. A transfer to another registrar cannot be started without the correct EPP code.
WARNING - If you transfer your domain realhardcoreracing.com before 2015-12-02 then the Gaining Registrar may deduct one year from your paid registration which CANNOT be refunded.
Answer to other question's yes my domain is unlocked, yes I have a epp code,

Re: Transfering my existing doman to forumotion
Maybe you need to talk to a different person where you have the domain name. Maybe that person could explain the process better.
