Solved how to separate posts using css?

Post by Diana on November 18th 2015, 9:08 pm

I've made them red so it's easy to see them. I'd like them to be the colour blue you can see in the pic but when I change the colour in acp it also changes this colour:

I want these bits to be white.
Or is there any other way to separate posts efficiently?

I need it for a look I'm creating, not for the one I have currently but it's for this forum.

Sorry, but I need to see the forum with that design to search for a class or an id and give you the codes you need.

Done. I have the red there at the moment. It shows up like I want it to in threads but I don't want the red anywhere else.

I suppose you used a css code to achieve that. If so, eliminate it. Then go to your viewtopic_body template and add this code(at the end of the template):
Code:
<style>
your css here
</style>

Replace "your css here" with the codes you eliminated from the CSS.

Remove this from your CSS, or change the red to white:
Code:
td.row3 {
    background-color: #F00;
}

I know how to make it white. I made it red so you can see where the problem is, sorry maybe I didn't explain enough.
I want the lines in the topic to be red but I also want the category parts to be white. If I change the colour in the admin panel it changes the colour in topics aswell as the category parts.
I only want the lines in the topics to be different colour. Or is there any other way to separate the posts?

Hi there,

Create a new javascript that only affects topics. Add this:

Code:
$("td.hr").css("background-color: black !important;");

Regards.

Did you disable the CSS code that it's making it red? I have overruled the red color successfully.

I deleted the red in acp and I have a black line now in the topics and the categories look fine.
How do I change the colour of the line to #66a8ff?

The CSS Stylesheet is applied to the entire forum while with this JS we limited it towards topics. So, no, nothing in your CSS Stylesheet. The ".css("background-color", "#66a8ff");" makes this job. Wink

Hi,

But did you replace the code? I can't see it active. And again, I was able to overrule the CSS with that code. Smile (if it worked once there is no reason for not working again)

I can't understand how you get it to work and I can't.

Hi,

So, I opened my test forum and ran the script. It seems that the script works fine client-side but it isn't working properly when handled by the "server side" (even though no errors are shown)(and even though "server side" name isn't correct in here as well). I tested it in a HTML page hosted outside of Forumotion and it worked fine. :S

So, let's try doing something different.

What do you mean by that: "Is there any other way to separate posts?"

Tell me a few examples and I'll try making them. And just to be sure (so you don't have to waste your time), I'll always check it both client and "server" sides. :/

Regards.

See how all the posts blend into one. I wanna break them up, seperate them from each other. I don't wanna use any other colours but the blue or separate them somehow without using colours.

Hi,

So sorry for this long period of wait. :/

Check this CSS:

Code:
.forumline{
background-color: yellow !important;
border: 2px #069 solid;
}

Edit it as you wish.
