Solved Newbie and struggling. Rogue buttons on my front page

Post by bhccc on December 11th 2015, 2:06 pm

Hi - my first forum and finally getting to grips with designing the 'look and feel'. At some point I have collected two large (and active) buttons on my front page and can't see how to get rid of them - they are "Download" and "Play now".

The forum is sussexsundaycricket.forumotion.com.

Can anyone point me the way forward?

Many thanks
Rick

Hello,

That sounds like it is an ad. Since forumotion is a free service, it places these at the top and side of your forum in order to pay for the cost of maintaining the service. If you wish to get rid of these ads for a duration of time, you will need to purchase credits.

Thanks Brandon. I may have a different problem then, as it's been the same for weeks and both buttons go to an 'update Adobe Flash' page (my Flash is up to date). Now I'm wondering if I have some rogue code in there. I get no other adverts

I do think its just an ad, an ad that hasnt changed on your forum for awhile. I would just ignore it. Smile

Did you add any codes to your forum? If not, then I am 99% sure it is just an ad. If you did, may you post the code(s) you used here please?

Just for your information, the 2 big buttons, it is an ad. I have the same buttons here on my new forum Doh
The ad is made with Flash, so if your system is out of date it redirects to Flash instead of the advertiser website.

Hello,

This is Ad's as already said by my colleague. When this ad comes up it has nothing to do with if your Flash player is out of date it is just an ad Google Who are our host for the ad's send out ad's that fit at that time I often get the same ad for weeks on end and i am always keep my Flash player up to date.

We have no power over the ad's showing but i will say is when making a search on Google it saves cookies and when you pick something that is in the ad's from google it will show.

So say you look for Ebay it should show Ebay on the ad's in some point.

Thanks all. It seems to be a very strange ad....!

I will get the hang of this eventually.
