Description of problem

I understand that in order to change the width of the forum, you go to Administration Panel > General > Forum >Configuration and then scroll down and adjust the width by %. I have done this a few times and it worked. But since then I have been fiddling around with the HTML of the site with my limited knowledge, and now the page width changer doesn't work anymore. I can't figure out how to fix it, either.

Yes, you are correct, unless the theme designer changed it in the CSS stylesheet.
