Solved Disable mobile view on laptop

Post by Guardian-Angel on January 7th 2016, 3:33 pm

Hello

I have a member who uses a laptop for all internet activity. Often times the forum appears smaller and moved to the centre of the screen as if it was on mobile view. Refreshing the screen several times usually corrects it, but often times, it takes many tries.

Is there an option for users to disable that view?

Thanks

Hello,

The mobile version does not appear on laptops or pcs. That is unless the user specificly forces their browser to do so, however, this is difficult and requires a number of steps. They would know if they did this. Other then that, the mobile version does not appear pcs and computers.

May I ask what the url to your forum is? May you ask the user for a screenshot of the problem? What browser is the user using? Has this occured for anyone else or only that user?

She uses Firefox. I had her test it in IE and it worked fine for awhile, but started again scrunching screen. No one else has this issue, I'm thinking maybe it's her monitor. I've asked her to take a s/shot. I'll report back. I just want to confirm it's not a forumotion issue.

If it is only happening to her, it sounds like an issue on her end somewhere only.

I don't believe this is an FM issue, we have recieved no reports of this. Wink

As a matter of interest, this is a screen shot. It looks similar to what happens when an emoji is posted from SM

It is not a good idea to post emojis from mobile devices.

Yes she has cleared her cache and history. I think it might be her monitor. She says it's on and off. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a mobile option that she some how enabled.

It does sounds like an issue with her monitor. Does this happen on any other sites?

Yes, it does look like either a browser issue or a monitor issue. Since clearing the cache and cookies didn't help, it looks the latter might be the case Very Happy.
