Description of problem
Hi, I have been given several complaints from members who use mobile devices that the chatbox goes completely black sometimes, even the background. It seems to be from Android users as I haven't seen the problem when I use my Apple device. Any information would very grateful!Re: Chatbox Turns Black
Hello,
Do you have any codes installed on your forum that effect the chatbox? If so, what are they? May you ask your users for a screenshlt of the problem?
I don't believe it is a global issue at all because we haven't had any other complaints and I am an android user and I have no issues with the chatbox from my phone .

Re: Chatbox Turns Black
The only code I have effecting the chatbox is the one that allows a "popup" on the lower corner of the screen. It can't be as I had used that same code on other sites and didn't get the same problem of complaints.
I noticed it happened before on another site of mine when there was a transparent background though they didn't seem to complain when the forum version was phpbb3 not phpbb2. Is there a connection to that? I will try to change the background on the chatbox to see if that helps by making it no longer transparent.
I will also try to get one of my members to screenshot the problem. Thanks!

Re: Chatbox Turns Black
Just a hint. This might be due to incorrect versions of Java, QuickTime or their Flash player not being updated.

I was thinking the same thing, @RoxaNNeX, but they said it never happened on my sister site which also uses the same code I use for the chatbox, transparent background, but is forum version phpbb3 instead of what I use: phpbb2.

I strongly recommend you tell your users to update their software. I really feel like it's not on Forumotion's end, since such a few users experience this kind of an issue. Though, I had to update my stuff to the latest as well since last weekend to get chat right on my laptop again (running Win10 Pro 64 and FF64). Could you please try and contact them, ask one or two of them to get the latest updates installed and try again?
And I don't wanna get involved too much in this. I've been there before and I don't wanna go thru the whole sequence of trial and error again
Thanks!
Samantha.

Here is a screenshot from one of my members just recently. But, okay I will ask them to do that and see if that helps.

Yeah, well, that screenshot is really tiny, even when enlarged, so I can't make up anything. Something with widgets and rules? I'm sorry, but I'm stepping out of this. I tried.
I just hope getting the software updated will have some positive effect. Good luck!

Okay, thanks anyway!
Re: Chatbox Turns Black
I doubt unfornatelly that un updated flash player is to blame, as you mentioned it happens on mobile devices, which normally dont have any flash player at all, the chatbox also doesnt require flash. If the code has ever had any issues, then you should consider it a POSSIBILITY that it could be the issue. Try disabling/temporarily removing the code (back it up in like notepad or something first so it can be re added) and wait a day or so, ask your users if the problem still persists, if it doesnt, it might be the code. To confirm this, put back in again and ask your users to report if they ever expereince the issue again. If it does, it might be the code.
You could also try asking your users to clear their cache and cookies and/or forum cookies or else using different browsers to see if this helps the issue at all.
