Description of problem

I just had a quick question about the page structure and changing the width of the forum. What is the difference in changing the width by numbers or percentage? Is there an advantage or disadvantage about them? Thanks for your time!

I believe 10 equals 1%. There is no real advantage to either.

Solved Re: Question Regarding Page Structure

Pixels are an absolute value ; 1px is equal to 1 pixel on your screen.

Percentages are a relative value ; they adjust to fit your screen or the parent container. So 80% = 80% of your screen or the parent. This will look different for people with smaller or larger screens.

I'd recommend going with a percentage because the forum will fit to fill the same space, regardless of screen size. It's also a great choice when designing mobile layouts. However, if you want your forum to be the same width for everyone, it'd be best to go with a pixel value.

Here's info on measurements for CSS :

Pixels define a length that is the same for everyone. Percentages define a length that adjusts based on the size of the screen or parent container.

This renders the same for everyone :

This doesn't :
( Try resizing the screen to see the difference )

Code:
This renders the same for everyone :
[table style="background:#39C;height:50px;width:50px;"][tr][td][/td][/tr][/table]

This doesn't :
[table style="background:#39C;height:50px;width:30%;"][tr][td][/td][/tr][/table]
( Try resizing the screen to see the difference )

I would recommend putting your part of the explanation about this inside the "Tips & Tricks", @Ange Tuteur, since it's very thoroughly detailed. Thank you!
