Solved email already in use

I stopped receiving your responses to my forum posts . A couple posts ago . I had to come back here and look at my posts to find out why I never heard from you . In the last two cases there had been at least 1 reply to each post . I did not receive them .
I went to my profile and entered my email . It told me that it was already in use . I then found another ID that i had used before when I found I could not enter this forum . I deleted that ID . I still get the prompt that the email was still in use . But even the ID I deleted did not use my email .
My question is how do I make changes so that i receive notifications for your responses and the emails ? I am getting neither .

This is weird . I got his one in my email perfectly . Mysterious the last two did not . Seems to good now . maybe I did end up deleting the account that was supposedly using the email .
Thank you this seems to be solved also .

Have you checked your preferences? Go to your User Control Panel > Preferences

Always notify me of replies : Yes

In addition, while posting, have you checked the options below the post ? Check this image :
