Solved New Mobile version has broken a few things

Post by troyeccles on June 14th 2016, 12:22 pm

Hi all

Well done on the new mobile version. Long overdue. But it's come as I was just about finished modding the old one and I've got a few issues.

www.bellsareringing.forumotion.com
PHPBB3

1. Pagination has disappeared
2. Prev, Next and Last have been replaced by <, > and >>
3. I no longer have the ability to quote, delete, edit, etc.
4. New topics are bright green (that's ok) but they have the forumotion speech bubbles all over it. Disaster.
5. The site name and topics in the header are now dark grey on black so almost unreadable.

Loving the new mobile version but it's just broken way too much.

Help!!!!

Hello,

The new mobile version is not broken, it might not be compatible with your css that's all. The solution for now is either to keep the regular version or to rework your css.

So the new version DOES have the ability to quote, edit, etc but my css is breaking it?

I don't know how to fix these things if they were set to work previously.

No you can't but it seemed to me that the regular version didn't offer this options either. I may be mistaken but I thought it wasn't possible with the regular version.

I had it working with the previous version. Maybe it WAS a custom thing but the new mobile versions seems to be ignoring my CSS

Yes, the new mobile version is not compatible with the former CSS you used to use. To keep your css you have to keep the regular version.

Hello,

To switch back to the regular theme version, go to ACP-->Display-->Templates-->Mobile version-->Find where it allows you to choose which theme you would like to use, choose 'Regular theme' and save.

This will make your mobile version the regular/old mobile theme. Wink

@troyeccles you can put the quote, edit, etc buttons in modern themealso but u have to again edit the "viewtopic_body" template. put the same css & JS as in ur older version of mobile template, and add the html codes like showed below

find this code :
Code:
<div class="post-details">{L_TOPIC_BY} {postrow.displayed.POSTER_NAME}</div>

and add this code below it :
Code:
<ul class="mobile-actions">
          <li>{postrow.displayed.QUOTE_IMG}</li>
          <li>{postrow.displayed.EDIT_IMG}</li>
          <li>{postrow.displayed.DELETE_IMG}</li>
        </ul>

also find:
Code:
{postrow.displayed.MESSAGE}

and add this code above it : ( this I found helps proper alignment on device below 5 inchs)
Code:
<br class="clear"/>

all the css, html & JS codes are from the tutorial by Ange Tuteur from the thread http://help.forumotion.com/t142566-how-to-add-post-actions-to-the-mobile-version .

hope this helps

P.S. For removing the forumotion bubbles that are coming all over , u'll need to remove the css for mobile theme of the older version.

for links colours I too m working on that hope to find solution soon Smile

I'm currently traveling and can't test this out. Could you please leave this open for a couple of weeks? I'll be sure to mark it as solved once I've had a look at it.

Massive thanks for the help!

Sure, no problem Troyeccles! We were checking to make sure it wasn't solved already. Wink

P.s Make sure you bump the topic once within the next 7 days if your going to need this open past then, or else the auto pruning system will send this to the garbage, so make sure you bump once or twice in a 7 day period to ensure this topic get pruned. Wink

Solved Re: New Mobile version has broken a few things

Post by troyeccles on July 5th 2016, 2:53 pm

Hi again all.

Jade, I've managed to use your code (and a bit of Ange's) to insert the post actions (quote, edit, delete). However, there's a bit of an alignment issue that I've tried all day to fix to save bothering you but my experience is too limited.

The post actions need to be aligned with the avatar. As you can see, they're significantly lower and overlap the post text itself in some instances. This is my test forum...on the proper forum, they're actually forcing the text to wrap to the next line after only 2 or 3 words!

So either the action buttons need to go up to align with the avatar or the post text needs to come down (I'd prefer the action buttons to align with the avatar as that's how it was with my customised original mobile version)

EDIT: I just realised that with three action buttons, they're too wide to go in line with the avatar so can we drop the text in the post a few px's?

I also noticed that SLGray has ammended a topic regarding the pagination of the mobile version, stating that the code is no longer required as the new version this feature: http://help.forumotion.com/t136884-add-pagination-to-the-mobile-version

My old version (as per points 2&3 in my original post) had Prev, Next and Last buttons as well as individual page numbers. Like this (ignore the arrow, that was for a different issue):

This version doesn't and I've deleted all the old mobile mods in the CSS so that's not the issue (?!?!?!).

The header colours (point 5 has been fixed) - thanks, Jade.

Point 4 though: I've removed all the custom mobile CSS. However, I get no colour notification at all now. I'm guessing that the slim bar to the left of each forum/topic is supposed to turn a certain colour when there's a new post? But mine are constant grey even if a new post has been entered.
