Solved Topic review doesn't show thread name

Post by Guardian-Angel on August 11th 2016, 5:44 pm

Hello

On my forum, when replying to a post, I had assistance awhile back now to have the name of the thread appear above the reply box.

However, when you "quote" or "multi quote" a post, you cannot see the name of the thread above the reply box or in the topic review, or anywhere.

Is it possible to have the name of the thread above the reply box when using quote or multi quote?

Or another option would be, is it possible to have the name of the thread repeat in the "post title" bar? Members are not allowed to change the title of the post but they are able to because it lets them. When you quote, the title bar is blank. Is there a way to make the original name of all the threads default in that bar ?

Thanks.

Hi,

This is the script you're using to apply the title in replies, correct ?
Code:
$(function() {
  if (!document.post || !document.post.t || document.post.subject.value) return;

  $.get('/t' + document.post.t.value + '-', function(d) {
    document.post.subject.value = 'Re: ' + $('.page-title', d).text();
  });
});

If so, it should apply to quotes / previews as well. Did you add any additional plugins for quoting ?

It should be possible to disable the post title field using the same script, but we'd need to get down to why it's not working in quoted replies.

I did not have that code, I'm not sure which code is keeping the topic title above the reply box, but I just added that to my java and it works!

Now when I quote or multi quote the topic title defaults to the name of the topic.

Thanks for the quick response!

One moment. It appears I've lost the editor.

You're welcome ! Mr. Green

If you also want to prevent people from editing that title, just replace the script I gave you with the one below. Wink
Code:
$(function() {
  if (!document.post || !document.post.t || document.post.subject.value) return;

  $.get('/t' + document.post.t.value + '-', function(d) {
    document.post.subject.value = 'Re: ' + $('.page-title', d).text();
    document.post.subject.disabled = true;
  });
});

Have a good day. :rose:

The quick reply editor disappeared after I added the first code. I added the second code, and it's still disappeared. On the main page of the thread, the editor is gone. When quoting or multi quoting it is there.

Sorry, didn't notice your last post. Think we were posting at the same time ! xD

Try replacing the script with this one :
Code:
$(function() {
  if (!document.post || !document.post.t || !document.post.subject || document.post.subject.value) return;

  $.get('/t' + document.post.t.value + '-', function(d) {
    document.post.subject.value = 'Re: ' + $('.page-title', d).text();
    document.post.subject.disabled = true;
  });
});

That should solved the issue with the quick reply editor.

Thank you so much. That solved the problem of the editor and the name of the thread. This will help members from posting in the wrong threads.

The topic is now solved. Smile
