Description of problem

Admin MIA
No forum officials appointed and no reply from admin in over a year.
A couple of members would like to have some moderators appointed on the forum to take over some of the missing founders duties.
Having someone with moderators rights, even to the point of banning members, would give control while stopping short of taking over ownership of the forum.
We believe taking ownership of the forum would be an extreme course of action.
Taking over admin rights would leave the founder out in the cold who may a genuine reason for being MIA and wish to return in the future.
Also anything that any moderator changes could be altered by the founders if and when they return, as the founder would still have full control over the forum.

Sorry, but we can not appoint staff for a forum.  We can only deal with the founder account.

understood, thanks for the reply.
Just seemed a better solution in this case.

Maybe something to look at for the future with absent admin.
For example after say six months to appoint a caretaker of sorts first, then after longer period allow someone to take over the whole forum.

So, without the ability to run poll and ask members, failure to contact admin or gain a reply, what's next?
Maybe have you try and contact the founder member and if that fails take over provisionally until the founder wishes to return?
Or do we have to request a complete takeover and risk upsetting everone?

Forumotion does not contact founders about not logging into their forums. Have you tried to see if someone on the forum knows the founder in real life? Post a topic on the forum asking other members. See if the founder's profile has social media contacts, like Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Haven't tried to see if someone on the forum knows the founder in real life.
A number of posts regarding some control have been posted by other members.
No profile unless I missed it, will look again.
I'll put a new topic requesting members views, also if anyone has any further information regarding contact details.
This was done a while back by another member but it won't hurt trying again.

Add this to the end of the forum's link:  /u1 .  That is the founder.

From the membership list [same link], sent messages using the PM link and email link from the membership page.
The web link is for the forum front page, not a another site so of no use for this issue.

Also taken you advise and put a fresh post regarding admin and I've send fresh requests via PM and email and waiting for any reply.
Admin's last visit was Sept 2011, although I'm not sure if the founder/admin also used an ordinary member account.

I'm now waiting to see if any interest is generated from the new post, I don't believe I will have any success with the PM and email.
Since I'm unable to see the actual email address from the link it's difficult to check if that address is still active.
