PNG turns to JPG
Hello!
I have a similar problem like this: https://help.forumotion.com/t148041p30-image-transparency-problem-servimg-punbb?highlight=servimg
My transparent (no shadows!) png files turns to jpeg files if i use servimg, and all transparent parts get white background
Widows 8.1, phpBB3, files made by Photoshop CS6. I tried to host links, but it doesn't work.

Re: PNG turns to JPG
Hello can you please tell us the size of your img ?
if the item is to big then it will do that we do advice to all members that when doing items with a clear background to set the setting to No before uploading your items to the account.

Re: PNG turns to JPG
If the issue isn't the size, I suggest finding a separate image host. There's very many out there.
Re: PNG turns to JPG
APE: Thank you for your answer. The picture is 580x367 px (834 KB). I could upload much bigger files with no problems. I read your post there before I wrote here, but the "No" setting didn't help. And I tried to upload direct from the forum (Insert image, Host an image), but...
Chellizard: Yes, I found an other image host (there the image is OK), but Servimg was more convenient And I want to know what did I wrong, because some images work fine, but some not. The sizes are the same.

Hello,
It seemed to me that this problem was fixed now. Did you try to upload your picture again recently with servimg?

Hi Netty 88,
The problem is if you upload a PNG image into Servimg that is over a certain file size it will automatically be compressed to a smaller jpeg file and lose quality and the transparency effect in the process. I think the limit for PNG files that can be uploaded into Servimg is about 174kb - 200kb? it might be a bit less, it's about the same maximum file size that is allowed for uploaded avatars. All my PNG files i load into Servimg via the Admin panel are between 2kb - 150.88kb and i don't get the automatic conversion/compress to jpeg problems.
PNG files are ideal to use for small forum graphics because they are lossless files, they keep their clarity without image artifacts. Your image file is quite large at (834 KB) Try uploading a test image at around 200kb and work your way down to see what file size get's automatically resized to a jpg file, I'm sure it's around the 174kb - 200kb mark.
If you want to have a large file sized image on your forum then it might be best to paste the image link in from an outside image host. The area to save your large file image link is in the Administration Panel, Pics Management, Advanced Mode, and on the first page, in the pane on the right where you want to paste your image link and click 'save' at the top of the page. This way you can paste very large PNG image files into your forum from outside image hosts.
Servimg has a file size limit, once you know the limit you can work with images for your forum without problems, my transparency problem was a bug with Servimg, which has now been fixed.

Re: PNG turns to JPG
Leviosa: Unfortunately not But Clivvers said right: if I compress the file size (now it's 175 kb), than the upload is good. Before that i could upload much bigger png files, I don't know now why not. But now I can use Servimg, thank you all!
