In progress error #268D3

Post by TWYLYGHT on November 4th 2016, 10:50 pm

Forum Name, Taggers Tavern.

Link: http://taggertavern.forumotion.com/forum

I have members that keep getting this error. Below is the info one member has shared woth me via E mail.

I searched error #268D3 and Microsoft called it an error scam.

On the other forumotion board it was the same pop ups pretending to be legit and using a different code # which I'd have to go back there to get it but hubby also checked it out on bing or google and they're calling them pup malware. A lot of people are complaining about it.

First you get a red warning that it's not a safe site and then the unclickable pop up wanting you to think it windows/microsoft. Every time you have to shut down to get out of it.

Do you know why this is happening? Do you know how to fix this problem? If so, do share. I'm losing members because of this issues.

Thanks in advance.

As for a link my members will not go to the forum in order to get a link. They are worried about what could happen to their computer. This is why I said I am losing members because 0f this issue.

All of them members experiencing this problem are in the USA.

Hello,

Could you explain how and approximately when this appears, does appear on the forum or does it redirect you to a page then show an error message?

Thanks,
ChanelW :rose:

This issue is occurring on all browsers and all Forumotion forums for the members that are currently effected.

I can only pass on to you what members are sharing with me by e mail now. I do know it appears on the forum when the members come to visit. This error has shut the forum down for those dealing with the issue. Other words when the member logs onto the forum the error pops up and shuts the member out. There is no redirect.

I have one member that goes to 3 other Forumotion sites and it happens at each one.

Hello,

Reading what @Skouli has provided it states that this is a scam, then referring to your screenshot I can see that it takes you to a page supposedly 'Microsoft' The website I saw was www.microsoftmonitoringalerts.com. This is a scam it is no google malware it is a scam and is not down to Forumotion it is your computer or browser if I am correct.

My only suggestion is to follow @Skouli's article she has provided and it should help.

Could you please answer my question - How often does this happen and when? Do you log in and it happens just view the forum and it happens or it happens at a certain period of time?

Thanks,
ChanelW :rose:

Thanks everyone.

ChanelW sorry, I thought I had answered your question. So, I'll give it a go again.

Since I am not the once getting this error I can't give you a true answer. However, I can tell you that each time the effected member some to the forum they get it. So that would be any time of day or night. These members stay logged in until they clean out their Internet History and Cookies. So, it's not a random happening. One has logged out and back in, they still get the error.
