Solved Help required for a problem with a blurry forum header please

Post by jkh on November 23rd 2016, 5:38 pm

Following on from a topic I started this morning in 'Graphics Request' http://help.forumotion.com/t149095-new-forum-header#1031745 I have been asked to transfer my request for further help to this section.

I asked for a new forum header which Mimóza kindly designed for me.

However, the forum header (quote boxes) looks blurry when I uploaded it to my main forum http://jillhavern.forumotion.net/ (phb33)

Yet when I uploaded it to my test forum it looked fine http://jillstestforum.forumotion.co.uk/ (invision)

So, I'm looking for some help, please, to try to make Mimóza's header look as good on my forum as her original creation.

In another section I've asked for a complex review of my forum so want to try to make it look nice Laughing

Hi skouliki

Yes, I've got this

#logo img {
width: 100%;
}

I had issues with previous forum headers not fitting which is why it says 100%

But if I remove 100% then the forum header goes outside of the width of the forum and looks weird.

As it is, it automatically adjusts the size to whatever browser width.

The strange this is, I've made loads of forum headers and they've all been fine - it's only recently that they've started to look blurred.

Thank you skouliki, I've uploaded it. What do you think? Does it look clearer to you?

Only problem now is that the text in the quote boxes is too small to be read on a mobile phone/iPad etc.

Plus I noticed there's a word missing in John Stalker's quote Confused

i think its more clear yes ..

of course its not readable you can not have it all ..thats why we do not put text on banners

if you want to reopen your request i can retrieve it so you can ask mimoza to remake it

Yes, if you wouldn't mind doing that skouliki and if Mimoza also wouldn't mind tweaking it a bit. I feel awful for asking after all the effort she went to make it in the first place.

You can read the text clearly in the quote boxes?

How did the graphic designer get the text looking so crisp and clear in the forumotion banner?

There must be a way for me to do it too :/

It would seem there are only two options for me:

1. To have a blurry banner which fits the width of the forum, or

2. To have a banner that is clear but doesn't fit - i.e when you reduce the width of your browser the header goes outside of the forum and your have to scroll across to see it all.

Yet the banner is crystal clear and fits perfectly on this forum - so why can't I have the same?

If forumotion can do it then I should be able to do it too.

You want too much text on the banner - it's unusual to add long parapgraphs in banners. In your case in smaller screens the blurriness/ hard legibility is inevitable. Forumotion uses a lot smaller banner and didn't add lengthy quotes. You either have to reduce the amount of text added on it, or accept that on smaller screens it will not be readable. Smile

I really don't think it's because of the text.

I think it's something to do with this:

Code:
#logo img {
    width: 100%;
}

and this:

If I remove the code the forum header is readable but goes outside of the forum boundary.

If I keep the code and select 'No' then the banner fits perfectly but is blurry.
If I select 800px or 1024 px then the banner is readable but really small.

Here's a link to 1024 px on my test forum http://jillstestforum.forumotion.co.uk/

Just when you thought you'd got rid of me skouliki, I could do with some help getting the resolution right with mimoza's new header please as it's gone back to being a bit blurry, which is a shame as it's the best banner of them all and would like to do it justice. https://i.snag.gy/nDyXae.jpg
