Solved Assistance with Usergroup Glow

Post by Metalgod542 on January 25th 2017, 6:10 pm

Hello, I am the founder/owner of The Pika Club (http://thepikaclub.forumotions.in/)

The issue I am having is CSS/HTML based. I am trying to make our Administrator Group name glow.

I am aware of the post located at http://help.forumotion.com/t96136-group-s-style-on-legend-glitter-icon-glow

I have review this post and tried the code listed below with the adjusts to target the group I want to target with no success.

a[href="/g387-forumotion-administrators"] {
text-shadow: 0px 2px 6px #f5a911;
}

I cannot figure out why this is not affecting my user group. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I do see a glow, but not the orange color ... But try this one instead, I believe you target was wrong.

Code:
a[href="/g7-administrators"] {
text-shadow: 0px 2px 6px #f5a911;
}

That is the code I am currently using. I see no glow however. My intention is to have it appear similar to the usernames for our admins

text-shadow: 0px 2px 6px #f5a911 !important;
}

Unfortunately, that does not work either. If you hover over the group you will see what my over all goal is

Maybe this code is more to the look of the mod names

Code:
a[href="/g7-administrators"] {
    text-decoration: none!important;
    text-shadow: 0 0 0.2em #f5a911, 0 0 0.2em #f5a911, 0 0 0.2em #f5a911;
}

But if it not works hopefully someone else can help, as I tested both on mine and they work.

I do appreciate your time and help but, unfortunately it isn't working on my forum. It seems it is a more advanced issue than it appears to be

When adding the codes where are you adding them in your CSs files are you adding them at the top or the bottom?

if you add them at the bottom of your CSS files try and add them to the top.

Some times this helps as some codes Block others.

Awesome. That worked. Thank your help. Before this is locked and marked solved, can I ask why it had an issue with the placement of the code?

Solved Re: Assistance with Usergroup Glow

yes you can

When you have 2 codes almost the same and they both have !important in them the code placed first is the one tat gets read first so if you have a hover before this code you just used it will make that set first and the other one gets forgot about

so you should always have the non hover first then the hover then the system will read the right code first then place the hover as 2nd place .

so when ever you add a new code that has the same code remember to add the code to the top of your forum

so its sort of like this

NO Hover First
Code:
a[href="/g7-administrators"] {
            text-decoration: none!important;
            text-shadow: 0 0 0.2em #f5a911, 0 0 0.2em #f5a911, 0 0 0.2em #f5a911;
        }
With a Hover Second:
Code:
a[href="/g7-administrators : hover"] {
            text-decoration: none!important;
            text-shadow: 0 0 0.2em #f5a911, 0 0 0.2em #f5a911, 0 0 0.2em #f5a911;
        }
so it reads 1 then 2 as a rule
