Solved Got a list of problems which i aim to resolve on my forum

Post by VeteranAlpha on April 30th 2017, 1:04 am

Good day Forumotion! Hello

My name is Veteran Alpha and for the past few weeks i have been working on my forum using Forumotion. It has come out greatly to say the least and i have gone live and opened the doors. But my users reported some problems and bugs which i aim to resolve for both them and myself. Problem is. I have been trying to resolve them for the past few days and it has been eating up my head. Can't get my head around it. I was hoping that we could get around to them and resolve them together as i am a forum maker rookie and you guys are professionals.

The problems are as follows

Line/box split between messages/posts:
So this problem is kind of irritating me. But to put it simply. On a old forum of mine there was this sort of box for each users message. It looked something like this.

Here is a more in depth example of what i currently want.

As you can see from the images. I want to have a line or a box between each persons post so that it all does not look like its on the same background. It feels very unclean and it feels rarther annoying.

Profile Edit Text Color:

This second problem is a little bit more self explanatory. But the main problem i have is that i don't know where to change the colors of the text for this section of the forum. The text color for the quick reply, messages and the alike is all fine. But this one on the profile edit is not and its the color of the background which makes it hard to see. Where may i change it?

Change "Watched Topic" in the Notifications to the topic name.:

Right this issue is also a little bit annoying. But on a old forum. Whenever you revived a notification it said what topic it was that you revived the notification for. So if for an example someone commented on a topic called "screenshot topic" i would revive a notification that would say "Butcher wrote a message in Screenshot Topic"

But right now it only says that i get a notification for a watched topic. Which makes it real hard to find out what topic i got the notification for. How can i change that

Reputation Bar/tab On Profile:

Right so before we start. I do have the reputation system working. It is activated and users can rep each other up without a problem. But that is not what the problem is. The problem is that i can't really see who upvoted me and who downvoted me. On this old forum who i was a member of. There was a reputation bar/tab whenever you click on your profile. It was under the "Edit Profile" button as you can see from the image below.

Once you clicked on it. You were redirected to a page that showed you who upvoted you and who downvoted you. Where may i find that so that i may activate it?

That is all the problems i have right now. Would really love to solve them as that would allow me to take a break from working on the site for a few days and i would get the most important things out of my head. Laughing

And incase someone were to ask. My forum is right here. ----> http://commonwealth-order.forumotion.com/

Many thanks

Not the title text entirely. More or of the color of the text. The color i have right now makes it really difficult to see.

AP > Users & Groups > Users > Profiles
When you create a new field or modify an old one, there should be a color changer to the right of the title box.

Yea i tried it and it doesn't fix the issue on this page.

It only fixes it on this page. But it did not fix anything as it was already white by default.

I do not see the issue if the text is white in the boxes.

Only in one of the boxes. But in the section where you enter your email address, location, humor etc:
It's all dark grey and not white as it should be. :/

Remember that i am also talking about the first picture and not the second one.

Edit: My apologizes. I realized that i might of have been unclear which is why i drew a circle showing what text color i want to change.

Hello,

1. What would you prefer ? A line after each post, or get a different background color alternatively ?

2. Add in your CSS the following code :
Code:
#ucp input {
    color: white !important;
}

4. Are you sure this old forum was hosted on Forumotion ? I can't see how it would be possible, as it requires a database to save who downvote / upvote each message. It won't be possible...

You sir are a GOD! cheers

2. Number 2 issue is no longer a problem. It is fixed and it is how i want it to be done. Very Happy

As for Issue 1. - I would like a possible box around the post and the profile field. A line will also do but i need to see what it looks like.

4. This was the site. Of course they don't have the Reputation system on the site anymore as it was disabled by them but they did have it and it was hosted on Forumotion.
If you wish i may ask some of my friends who were members on that site aswell and they will tell you. Smile

Hello,

Was the button on this reputation system 'like' by any chance? If so, they could have been using a code from avacweb that was created by @LGForum that showed who liked a post. The only reason he was able to accomplish such a code is because he had the system linked to his own database. As far as I know this is the only code that could acheieve this, but I could be wrong. Either way you would need your own seperate database to link the code to for this to even be possible.

Unfortunatelly, at the moment, the LGforum code is no longer available as LG has taken Avacweb offline for the time being and it seems he either got rid of his database or disabled all the codes linked to his database/server. Sad

Would it at least be possible for Admins to see who gave a positive rep to who and who gave a negative rep to who?

As walt and other have said, by default the reputation system does not have a feature like this nor does it support the possibility for such a feature. The ONLY way to get something like this is to get your own database and server and then code a new reputation system from scratch and link it to the database and server of your own.

Other then doing that, it is not possible as you would need access to the database to do this and ONLY the head office has access to the database. Sorry about this Sad.

Kind of sad now. Guess im going to have to disable the rep system now or just remove the rep rule. Well that sucks. Crying or Very sad

Edit: Just got rid of the rep system. Users said that it was unneeded and that it would split the community. I added the RPG system instead.

Code:

    padding: 5px;
}
.post.row2 {

Is there any way to lower the name a little bit lower from the avatar? It feels like it is colliding with avatar right now.
