Solved Navbar Background

Post by Na11 on June 4th 2017, 6:05 pm

Is there way to get a forum navbar background? Take this for example.

Does it require additional code. The forum version is phpbb 2 (my fourm and the other forum)

True, and it'd be rather tricky to select the navbar specifically on phpbb2 since it lacks a unique selector. You can however, do a bit of traversing w/:first-child, direct descendant (>), and the next (+) selector.
Code:
.bodyline > table:first-child + table {
  background:red;
}
This will select the table which contains the navbar, but since there's no unique selector there's a chance it could select something else if the structure of the page changes, though if you have no plans on changing the forum structure this should suffice.

Still, I'd recommend editing the templates to add a unique identifier. Admin Panel > Display > Templates > General > overall_header

Find :
Code:
                <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" align="{MENU_POSITION}">
                    <tr>
                        <td align="{MENU_POSITION}"{MENU_NOWRAP}>{GENERATED_NAV_BAR}</td>
                    </tr>
                </table>

Replace by :
Code:
                <table id="navbar" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" align="{MENU_POSITION}">
                    <tr>
                        <td align="{MENU_POSITION}"{MENU_NOWRAP}>{GENERATED_NAV_BAR}</td>
                    </tr>
                </table>
Save and publish.

When finished you can use the following selector to style the navbar.
Code:
#navbar {
  background:red;
}
