hello

add the following to the description of a forum or category :
Code:
<formmethod="get"action="/search?search_where=42"><inputname="search_keywords"class="inputboxsearch"value="Search..."onclick="if(this.value=='Search...')this.value='';"onblur="if(this.value=='')this.value='Search...';"type="text"><inputclass="button2"value="Search"type="submit"></form>

Replace 42 with the id of the forum or category

Hi skouliki...what do you mean by 'the id of the forum or category'?

Does the code go where the arrow is?

So, it would search any forum not just the one where it's added to?

I thought it would search the archives of that particular forum....

you have to add a class to the search form and style it with css (opacity)
i will tag @Draxion to help you with this cause my code make transparent only the search bar leaving out the button search so i guess i miss something

Hello @jkh,
You can add the below code in the specific's forum description:

Code:

<form method="get" id="forum-search" action="/search">
<fieldset>
        <input type="text" class="inputbox search tiny" name="search_keywords" id="search_keywords" size="20" value="Search..." placeholder="Search..." onclick="if (this.value == 'Search...') this.value = '';" onblur="if (this.value == '') this.value = 'Search...';" />
<input type="submit" class="button2" value="Search..." />
<input type="hidden" value="f3" name="search_where" />
</fieldset>
</form>

The result must be looks like this:

If you want to add the same code on different forum on the below code you must replace the forum ID value(now is f3):

Code:
<input type="hidden" value="f3" name="search_where" />

If you will need to adjust it, you can adjust it by adding some CSS rules in your CSS style sheet or directly in the html code. I am preferring the direct mode. Very Happy The completed code with invisible search until user hover on forum follows below:

Code:

<form method="get" id="forum-search" action="/search">
<fieldset>
        <input type="text" class="inputbox search tiny" name="search_keywords" id="search_keywords" size="20" value="Search..." placeholder="Search..." onclick="if (this.value == 'Search...') this.value = '';" onblur="if (this.value == '') this.value = 'Search...';" />
<input type="submit" class="button2" value="Search..." />
<input type="hidden" value="f3" name="search_where" />
</fieldset>
</form>
<style>
#forum-search {
    opacity: 0;
}
#forum-search:hover {
    opacity: 1;
}
</style>

I hope that will assist you. Hello
